There's no debating it. London's best shawarma by far, Iranian style. It's absolutely delicious. Go for the mixed shish platter for about £19 to eat in. Chicken, Lamb chips / rice, salad and pickles. It's superb!! They've been going strong since the 60's, beating off significant local competition. The fresh lemonade is fantastic! GREAT meals, every time.
Best Shawarma I’ve had in a long time. Their spicy is pretty spicy so if you have a low tolerance, ask them to do a little spicy. But you definitely want to get a little bit of that chili sauce on there, it makes the whole thing.Food: 5/5
Food: I had a mixed lamb and chicken shawarma with Tahini sauce. It was pleasant enough but not spectacular. Service: The food is served very quickly and the staff are very friendly. Atmosphere: it’s a busy place with no seating - expect to eat outside.
Nice food. We got Lamb shawarma wraps from here which were well made. We were told we must order a side by the waiter. Why must one order a side? It’s not included in the meal. Annoyingly I didn’t object but just selected the humus. It was too sweet and not to my liking. I had fresh orange juice too priced at £5 for a small cup.

It was a perfect blend of tender, juicy lamb and succulent chicken, wrapped in a warm, fresh flatbread. The spices were just right--enough to give a satisfying kick without overpowering the natural flavors of the meat. What really impressed me was the speed of service, it was served hot and fresh in no time, which is a huge plus for anyone on the go. And the fact that Cafe Helen is open late hours 4pm to 0600 am means that no matter when the craving strikes, you can count on them to deliver. Highly recommended!
We’ve been coming to Helen Cafe for 25 years, and it’s still the best shawarma in London. The flavors are as authentic and mouthwatering as ever, bringing back memories with every bite. It’s rare to find a spot that consistently delivers over the decades, but Helen Cafe has nailed it. If you want the best shawarma in town, this is the place to go.
Very tasty shawarma and a very positive experience. The meat and chicken portion in the mixed shawarma is very well distributed and packed with flavour. The staff unwrapped our shawarmas for us and showed us the traditional etiquette of eating a shawarma without spilling it. Very good experience 10/10
