Charming, elegant gardens with cafe and restaurant. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu is wide ranging...something for everyone. We were advised that it is best to make a reservation for lunch inside the conservatory as it does get busy. No reservation is needed for lunch/tea etc outside the conservatory. There are sun shades/umbrellas with tables and chairs. You can have afternoon tea; a piece of cake or an ice cream or a lunch. The choice is yours. The coffee is very good and if you wish you can have an alcoholic drink. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside in the sun admiring the views. This place is a gem! There are also small shops there e.g. interior decor; gift shop; jewellery and handbag shop. At the entrance there is also a shop for gardeners - with plants for sale outside. We will definitely be coming back and recommend this place highly!
Cant believe this was my first visit here .Beautiful gardens with a huge orangery. We went for food and it was delicious. They also serve alcohol and if you want afternoon tea make sure you book 24 hours in advance. There are a couple of shops there one for homeware and the other fashion and gift shop. They are expensive but lovely to look around . Lovely for a couple of hours
I had a Sunday roast beef dinner here today, seriously good from succulent thick beef, roast potatoes, carrot, broccoli, peas, cabbage and red cabbage, served with proper gravey. Portion size was just right, staff were friendly and attentive, surroundings were fabulous. The food is a bit more expensive than normal, but take my word it is worth every penny
I live nearby so visit for lunch about four times a year. The food is always delicious even if it is extremely overpriced £4.50 for a small portion of fries if I remember correctly!!, always good coffee, and when it’s sunny then the outside tables are peaceful sun traps but the last two times we’ve been they’d ran out of scones and it was still lunchtime. Despite the lovely food let’s ignore the price for now, it’s always hit and miss if you get the ‘good’ staff. They’re either friendly and attentive or absolutely grumpy, unwelcoming, and you’ll be waiting an hour for your bill. There’s no in between. And at the prices they charge, you’d expect top notch service. The other week - the last time I visited - the toilet stank to the point you could smell it in the conservatory, not good! Edit: It's now £4.95 for a small portion of fries! And we're talking frozen chips dropped into a fryer here. I was going to book again this week as it's local to me, but I'll head elsewhere.
Lovely food and friendly, chatty staff. We will be back. Gardens also beautiful, even in the winter.
Really nice grounds but very expensive £9-50 for a ham and cheese sandwich with very little filling with a vèrysmall salad if you could call it a salad and a tiny bowl of pickle which had very little pickle in very poor for the price and £3-50 for cup of tea
Another wonderful steak and fries washed down with raspberry blinis, sounds terrible but perfection! They seem to be able to keep their original staff here which says alot about the place. Picturesque surroundings. Wonderful puddings. Attentive staff.
My husband and I went for Sunday lunch and all I can say is it was absolutely beautiful. We both had the roast beef which just melted in the mouth and the vegetables were so fresh and tasty. Unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert but definately next time. The service was first class and very pleasant staff. We were in the conservatory which was delightful and there were plenty of tables outside too. All in all an extremely pleasant day and will definately return. Advisable to book.
Had a lovely family lunch there today. The burger was amazing.
Really beautiful .wide selection of plant's .food and service Excellent. a couple of nice shops too
