Loved it! Great food, great service and great views. Service was attentive and professional. The welcome was friendly and warm - and sincere! Food portion size was great, and so tasty - and excellent value for money. We'll be returning!
Lovely view over the reedbeds. Friendly service, things arrived quickly enough. We ordered sausage rolls with side orders of "Skin-on fries". Our fries are shown in the attached photo. Do these look like "Skin-on fries"? I mentioned this to the server and he made no comment. The sausage rolls were okay.
Honestly, probably some of the blandest food I've had in a long time. Check my reviews for proof! Also, the website prices dont reflect the actual menu prices! Eggs on toast was as dull as the grey sky, the shakshuka was nothing to write home about as well as the wrong flavor profile and garnishings. After 3 hefty shakes of the salt and pepper on all the food, it became tolerable. Flat white was good, service was meh.
Both of us arrived at the restaurant on Tuesday 18th October at 16.15 hoping for a coffee and cake. We were immediately approached by a young waitress saying we had arrived too late to be served. She confirmed that all the staff were leaving early and she would then be on her own. I asked what time they were closing and she said 16.30. I was confused since the web site clearly states 17.00 and also by the fact that she was still refusing me service when there was still 15mins left to the new amended closing time! It's such a shame that businesses in todays climate are happy to turn customers away or perhaps have waitresses that are not too bothered about the loss of business or upsetting customers.
My husband and our two girls went for lunch here after browsing the shops, very disappointing. Staff all stood around the bar chatting whilst loads of tables were being ignored and when they were called out about it, they blamed a large party that came in. We cancelled our meals in the end as we waited ages. Went elsewhere for a meal. With prices like theirs they really need to step up their service game.

Ordered an oat flat white and a coffee & walnut cake. Received a coffee with cow’s milk and no utensil to eat the coffee cake with. For £7, you’d really be expecting a bit more… Good views over the reed beds was the only reason for the two stars.
We were a party of three adults and one child. We were seated at ten minutes to twelve and were told, when we were given two lunch menu’s, that ordered’s could only be taken after noon. At ten past twelve there was no sign of our waitress, but when I spied her I had to raise my arm to get her attention. After we had given our choices she suddenly remembered there was a child’s menu. my nine year granddaughter had just chosen chips. It also gave me a further choice as I do not need a large lunch. The website said sandwiches were available, but when we asked we were told that they and cake etc. were available at an outside site by the river. Given it was a very windy day sitting outside to was not an option we were prepared to contemplate. The food, when it arrived, was okay but the service was very poor. Absolutely not recommended.
we arrived at 4:30pm on a sunnny midweek afternoon, half an hour before closing to be told that there was no food available including the cakes which had been 'put away'. We ordered two hot chocolates which were served without the advertised cream and marshmallows. Whilst we drank them it was clear the staff were 'packing up' for the day. A disappointing experience in the cafe of one of Suffolks premier tourist hotspots and music venue.
Wonderful location, interesting menu and not overpriced however the service is woefully disorganised. The senior female staff member who seems to be in charge has no clue whatsoever and seems to do nothing aside from standng by the bar watching all the very inexperienced teenage staff fail. No intervention. No encouragement. No training. It could be so different. What a shame.
