Honestly the starters are the best bits! The cod would be delicious if it is cooked perfectly. It requires delicate cooking. It cannot always get right. Dessert are interesting and memorable. Service is so so, but overall is very good dining experience.
Had a fantastic six course tasting menu meal here as part of our hotel stay. Every course was delicious and presented to our table with a smile and at the appropriate time so we didn't feel rushed at all. There were a couple of standout dishes but every one was really good. As its a tasting menu some of the dishes were just a mouthful and in the words of Gregg Wallace I could of eaten a bucketful. Lovely service and lovely menu, dread to think how long chef and his brigade were working to create a truly special dunner thank you
Another Michelin one star that's all deserved. The wonderful trip starts from the entrance of the gate to the restaurant. Atmosphere, color and the giant chess and janga is great for photo and most importantly. Good is extraordinary good!
This 1* Michelin rated fine dining restaurant is located within the 14th Century Manor House Hotel in the picturesque village of Castle Coombe. Superb well kept grounds, elegant bar area and spacious dining room in a semi formal setting. Tasting Menu was good that contained one or two standout dishes, all served at appropriate intervals together with attentive and friendly service. Our package included an overnight stay in one of the mews cottages with four poster bed adjacent to the hotel grounds. Expensive but recommended. Parking: Ample Parking close by
Fantastic food, gorgeous location. The only negative is the hideous decor in the dining room. Wayyy too many leaf themed accessories and furniture, needs some rethinking as it was overkill for us. Apart from that, a must visit!
Amazing location in Castle Combe and good hospitality at Manor House hotel, but experience dropped due to Bybrook restaurant. Were a few tasty selections on both the regular and vegetarian tasting menu, such as the trout and coconut/mango course. However as the restaurant got full the complete lack of attention from staff on food and drinks was extremely poor. The waiting time between final courses became painful, until we simply left without finishing our final course. Only apology when leaving from staff was that the restaurant was busy as it was Saturday! Reality is versus other Michelin star restaurants and given the prices were both upset. Recommend Manor House, avoid Bybrook!
So peaceful, quiet and full of green...
First visit to this restaurant, and celebrating a birthday. Started with a drink in the bar and was impressed they have a good selection of non-alcoholic cocktails as well as regular ones, particularly good for the driver in our group. Moved through to the restaurant and ordered from the A la Carte menu. Food was excellent and service was great too. Wait staff noticed whenever our water glasses were empty and offered to replenish wine glasses too. Pacing between courses was just right. It was a quiet evening so not many people in for dinner, but the dining room is beautiful and there is plenty of room between tables. Would definitely return.
Beautiful setting, very attentive and friendly staff, delicious food and will certainly return. Really enjoyed our visit and found the staff phenomenal despite all the COVID restrictions in place. Rooms are very well appointed and lovely to have log fires in throughout the hotel.
Very poor service / wine but food was good. Very disappointing We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings, it took 3.5hrs and a lot of the time we were sitting waiting for 20mins between corses with no wine or food. Not all the courses have a wine pairing and the measures were maybe 75ml not even a small glass - we researched the wine and the bottles were ~£20/bottle so not even like it was expensive wine. 5 people at £175pp is obviously very disappointing with this sort of service. I complained and was offered free wine pairings if we wanted to come back and do it again, but unfortunately I didn’t want to gamble another £115pp for the poor service and cheap wine.
