Wonderful spa night away.nnFriendly, welcoming and professional staff.nImmaculate / reguarly cleaned spa.nDog friendly for an additional £20 per night.nWorth upgrading to a superior crescent room. Free parking at the back of the hotel. Good hearty breakfast. What's not to love.
Great visit, our guide was Gill who was fantastic she obviously loves what she does, we followed the time line of Buxton throughout history and watched the site develope from the Romans to the present day, we even paid a visit to the doctor!!!!nVery educational and very interesting
A really great visitor centre, if it's your first time in Buxton you should definitely visit, plenty of information about St Anne's well and the crescent, very informative, and it's free, unless booking the tour.
Fantasticly innovative and modern interactive museum telling the history of Buxton and how it came to be renowned for its ‘healing’ waters. The guides were incredibly knowledgable and keen to share their stories with us. Each room was different and used various technologies to enhance the whole experience with VR, touchscreens, audio recordings, projections and optional fancy dress. Highly recommended.
The visitor centre is based in small series of rooms with displays describing the creation of the Crescent by the fifth Duke of Devonshire in the mid-1700s and Buxton’s further development in the Victorian era as a spa destination. The experience tour, with its virtual reality balloon ride, sets today’s buildings in their historical context. After falling into dereliction, the main part of the Crescent was renovated over 17 years at a cost of £70 million. The project was completed in 2020 and The Crescent now operates as a hotel with integral spa. Tickets for the experience are sold in the old pump room building which faces the Crescent.
