We had a fabulous cream tea with very tasty warm and moist fruit scones, local clotted cream and jam full of fruit. Sitting in the lovely garden by the river with it's ford and historic bridge with the Chaffinches coming down for crumbs was just an idyllic experience. The Buttery is a lovely cafe and we'll definitely be back to taste more of it's tasty fare.
Very pretty area to sit and enjoy your breakfast or lunch. Staff lovely and helpful. Clean and tidy with indoor and outdoor seating, public toilets and disabled access. Food was freshly prepared and coffee is delicious. They also supplied maps of local walks which was a nice touch.
The cafe was shut a lot of building work going on a bit disappointing really but some nice scenery there
A lovely place to visit with beautiful scenery, an enticing ford and many rambling walks in the area. For a great pic, drive through the ford stop and take a photo down river!
Camped nearby, so visited a couple of times for a bacon roll. The location is fantastic, short stay car park as well as a £2 all parking behind. Like others say it's not really a pub, although it does have a couple of ales on tap and serves local ciders. It opened at 10am, and closed around 6pm, or before if its quieter. Open on the bank holiday too. Good range of home cooked food which was lush, especially the bacon rolls and full English. Coffee is hot and strong too. Seating outside for nicer days, with views over the ford so can watch the cars zoom through.
A lovely café in a beautiful location, away from the madding crowd, absolutely lovelyFood: 5/5
Everything was closed and the forlorn once thriving shop is to let. Thank goodness we brought a flask.
The national trust have recently renovated this tea room so it's very nice inside. They serve all the lovely cakes that you would expect from a NT eatery plus they have an alcohol licence so you can grab a beer and sit outside by the river. Lovely little spot to rest while out walkingFood: 5/5
I have fantastic memories of camping here every year when I was a child. Apart from the tea room, I couldn't believe how run down it all now looks!
This was a lovely place to stop and eat. Will be even better next season when they are hopefully able to offer more on their menu. But what we tried and saw, was scrummy. Vegetarian options: There were some on the menu Kid-friendliness: Plenty of space and colouring on offer Parking: Parking across road or round corner Wheelchair accessibility: All on level and good space inside. Dietary restrictions: Happy to accommodate .
