Super cute wee museum. They managed to get so much history into one room! Awesome job! Lovely front of house staff & gave us information on certain areas of interest around Bute itself. Very friendly! The other room has a tonne of stuffed animals, so it may not be suitable for all guests. Would love to visit Bute again. Recommend this museum!
Really nice little museum.nIt covers everything from geology, natural history, archaeology, and from early settlers right through to more recent local, social history.nThe staff were really helpful and engaging.
Small but lovely gardens and greenhouses, full of summer flowers. A massive aviary too, with finches canaries and much more. Sadly no cafe anymore, didn't reopen after covid. Gardens are well worth a visit when in the area.
Very friendly staff, especially Jean who arranged for us to look at some documents relating to famous Bute resident Edmund Kean. There are also comprehensive displays on fauna, industry and early human occupation of the Island. There's decent parking on the street outside, and a reasonable entry fee of I think £4.50 each.
We loved this little museum, not too far away from Rothesay Castle/Ferry Terminal.nWe were able to park nearby, entry wasn't expensive at all, we spent just over an hour here, learning all about the geology and history of the island, as learning all about its flora and fauna.nA great introduction to the Isle of Bute before we spent the day travelling around the island.
