We visited here on our Anniversary. The famous smokies pancake was delicious. So creamy and morish. The salmon in orange sauce was also perfect. Lemon cheesecake...yummy. Finished with delicious coffee and homemade tablet. We will definitely be back soon Parking: There is a car park at the rear.
Went for a birthday meal and had a great meal. Staff were friendly and helpful. I picked the Oysters to start with and they were served with lemon and an optional red onion vinegar sauce - delicious and sweet. The others chose the fish special of the day and I had a steak, all served with a great selection of vegetable dishes. Definitely will be back again, always a reliable place to eat out. Parking: Parking was right outside the door, but there are also plenty of spaces nearby too.
After a walk along the Angus Coast Trail we stopped at this restaurant for a well-deserved meal. The food was very tasteful and nice: we had kedgeree, haddock and a full lobster. Service was very friendly even though we got there 5 minutes before closing time.
The Arboath coastal path is a delight at any time of year but today as we set off there was an atmospheric haar. The sea was flat calm with the exception of the wake made by a boat collecting the creels. Some the fields adjacent to the cliff walk were beautiful seeded with sunflowers, corn flowers, flax and fiddleneck which add colour to the barley fields. The sun came out and it soon hit 26 degrees unusual for Scotlands East Coast. We needed a stop for a coffee and a bite to eat. After a couple of hours walking we reached Auchmithie just in time for the restaurant opening. It was cool and comfortable inside and we received a wonderful greeting from the staff who were very friendly. We were given water whilst we ordered drinks and food which helped the thirst. The service was excellent and we were served quickly. We had a comfortable spacious table in a corner just away from the main "body o the kirk" which suited us to a T. Very diverse and interesting menu and very reasonably priced. You wouldn't get that value in Edinburgh The food was delicious and plenty of it. This is a "must go" if you are on the east coast near Arbroath. We will be going back. Parking: There is parking in the village near to the restaurant
We live 300+ miles away from this restaurant but whenever we are in area visiting family we make a point of enjoying a meal here. The food is always excellent I love the game pie on winter visits. There are also some excellent beers, from Scottish breweries, to complement the food. Service is always excellent and the ambiance whether at lunchtime or in the evening is perfect. Already looking forward to our next visit
What an absolute wee gem of a restaurant! We enjoyed a family dinner x8 people and, boy oh boy, this place did not disappoint. The food was superb starters, mains and desserts and there was an excellent selection of locally-sourced produce. The restaurant was fully-booked as seems 'normal' and the atmosphere was relaxed, informal and vibrant. I have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful restaurant. Book ahead to ensure a table. You won't be disappointed
Auchmithie, a unique Scottish hamlet perched on the edge of dramatic red sandstone cliffs with sweeping sea views. The But 'n' Ben serves delicious home-cooked meals. I had the haddock fried in oatmeal pictured and my companion the turbot. Later, fruit crumble pudding and clootie dumpling for dessert with lashings of custard.
Very fresh seafood on their specials menu and 10/10 service. Their cheese scones are amazing and one of the best I have had and I have tried the scones in Devon and Cornwall and from afternoon teas in London. Would totally recommend this place.
An overdue visit to Auchmithie just above Arbroath. Stopped in at The But'n'Ben for lunch. It was difficult to choose from the menu as so much choice. I opted for Haddock in batter and my husband for Kedgeree. The food was freshly cooked, well presented and delicious. Large portion of veg in season, chips and new potatoes. Service warm and friendly. The dessert menu was extensive but unfortunately we had no room left following main course. It's worth a walk down to the old harbour and enjoy a walk along the pebble beach. We will be returning to this gem!
Where to start, fantastic service, amazing food and price for a high tea is exceptional. Not a bad word to say about anything. No wonder it is always busyFood: 5/5
