Lovely place in Abingdon especially the Market place where you can sit and have a catch up with friends having a coffee. Have a weekly Market on Monday as well. In the Market place they have the famous Bun Throwing which takes place a special Royal occasions.
In common with so many other town centres, the number of shops which have closed down is fast catching up with those still trading.
Great for Turkish barbers and coffee shops. And charity shop's. Not much else
Town centre of Abingdon with cafes, boots, super drug, Costa, star bucks, barbers.
Not a bad town, though the selection of shops is bad. I only ever visit for Poundland, superdrug and card factory plus Greggs for a sausage roll it really needs more variety of shops, seems full of coffee shops. Recent lost h Samuel and peacocks which is a huge shame
Everyone is always moaning about Abingdon n lack of shops but I always manage to get what I need.
There is something very lovely about old Abingdon and The Precinct Bury Street joins the old to the new. Once considered a 70s concrete monstrosity, it still has a good deal more charm than anything that's been clumsily bolted-on to the town in the last 25 years. I remember this area as the true heart of the town, wiped out in an instant by a giant supermarket on the outskirts. All of the pubs have disappeared as well as the small retailers - the pubs were not only our social hubs but also doubled as off licenses after the shops shut. Such an irony that the pubs are now 'local' branches of the big supermarkets that forced them out of business. Four stars for the cafes and small independent shops trying to hold the community together in Bury Street and stop this being the full-on ghost town that it's set to become. A town planning nightmare in action. Why you would want to turn a beautiful old town into a poor man's Milton Keynes is a mystery to me.
Nice little shopping precinct , bit drab , lots of coffee shops , other larger and smaller shops. Friendly place, enjoyed a cake and coffee. Parking was free for 2 hours, which was good.
Small shopping centre with a good variety of shops.
Do not come here for a shopping trip unless you want second hand goods, an optician or a prescription. There are only 2 High St clothing stores. New Look which doesn't cater for anyone over a size14 they do size 16 and up online and Fat Face. Abingdon council should be ashamed of their town center. The residents certainly are.
