Lovely gardens with inspirational planting and such a nice feel to it. We enjoyed exploring the gardens and our dogs enjoyed a walk too. The visitor experience is highly commended, the lady on the gate/ shop was just nice and very friendly and recommended a route to walk. It was lovely to see a slightly senior lady enjoying the gardening jobs and made us appreciate that this is a small family run garden. There was a little tea room with friendly staff, a gift shop, plant nursery and an ironworks.
This is a wonderful example of diversity, farm land turned into a tree, shrub, flower, insect, bog, pond and wildlife haven, its a beautiful position, amazing array of plants and trees and an ancient field maple in the woods that has a life of its own. It could feature in the hobbit. Also I was very pleased to see a wild flower meadow full of yellow rattle grass, although we were a bit late for the wild flowers, they have all gone to seed now. Also a very nice tearoom, very accommodating and pleasant and beautiful place to wile away a day. We will return soon. Thank you
A very beautiful private house gardens. The work is lovely. There are benches scattered throughout providing good rest stops. The only limitation is a single toilet block at the entrance. The cafe on site boasts a good range of food very fairly priced. Beautifully situated and well maintained. Well worth a visit.
Lovely gardens, even in the autumn some of the foliage is stunning with great views over the surrounding countryside. Nice tea and coffee at the tea room.
Visited this beautiful and calm place with my parents and their dog. £10.50 entrance but free for RHS members on a Friday. Stopped for tea and rather delicious cake at the tea room. Hopefully the pictures will convey how beautiful it is there
This is a glorious place. Tranquil and beautiful with plenty of sitting spots. The tearoom was excellent with good food and friendly, competent staff. We bought plants from the nursery section which are healthy and well-produced. Recommended.
Beautiful smallish planted garden. With nice mix of areas under cover, open meadows, and pond areas. Wildflower areas with lots of butterfly species and dragonflies active around the pond. Small café with outside seating area, garden plant and ironmongery shop.
An absolute pleasure to have found these wonderful gardens . A treasure trove of different styles of gardens . Formal, grass gardens ,water features ,woodland and wild meadow set on a hillside which gives stunning views whichever way you look. The tea room serves up some lovely fare too. A must visit for any garden lover . Or if you just want a peaceful place to take in those stunning views.
Really lovely gardens set in beautiful countryside. 13 acres of space planted with trees and plants. Lots of opportunity for shade on these sunny days. Nice café, lots of plants for sale and some nice metal work; pots, obelisks, plant stakes and supports
Loved this place. Not a good walker but managed about an hour of walking before retreating to the lovely cafe for lunch. Pleased to find that they did Gluten Free Ploughman's which was excellent. And a choice of three cakes.
