Grim, stereotypical post industrial Scotland doing a tribute act to 70's Albania. A hangout for junkies,nedz, lowlife, deadbeats and inbred yokels. You feel like you need a shower in Dettol after walking through the place. That's not a criticism of the cleaners or staff working in this brutalist fake marble oddity. They have been handed the Ayrshire version of a never ending inferno. Even leaving you enter the rotten reality of the Kilmarnock taxi rank- -ankle deep in cigarette ends, dog excrement and greasy litter. Or, the festering concrete torture chamber that is the bus station....the only plus in the bus stations favour is it had no rats... they are clever enough to avoid the inhabitants.... the bus station is not a safe place, even during the day,a stabbing, an assault, a slashing is always near. The designer of that mall was no doubt some sort of cool, trendy ,hipster who had watched one episode too many of space 1999. One can just imagine him chuckling to him self after sipping blue nun and thinking how lucky he was to be paid for his " groovy" idea. I do hope this nightmare was not named after Robert Burns.

The shops are great value and staff are always friendly. Toilets not always available and when you have 2 small children that's a nightmare. Also being approached by sellers that pay for spaces in the mall deters me from going on sometimes as they don't take no for an answer. Previously been followed into a shop by one person even though I had told them numerous times I wasn't interested. Shame as it's the shops that suffer.

The shops inside the burns mall are quite good but I think the police should be nearby because of the druggies and the school children i met a couple who were asking me where the train station was they had just come of the Glasgow bus they were older folk I think Kilmarnock should consider visitors to the area all the folk won't want to visit Kilmarnock because of the safety issue.

A victim of being in Kilmarnock. Filled with the shuffling undead and junkies. Invaded by obnoxious Ned children at lunchtime. Crappy cheap pound shops and vaping nonsense. Bizarrely, they've normally got very good music.
