Absolutely delicious burgers, we tested : “godfather” and “top gear”. Huge portions! Lovely staff. Acceptable waiting time. Smoothie, coffee and juice very nice. Reasonable price. For 2 meals, 1 kids meal+ice cream and drinks we paid only 36£.
Waiting staff were not accomodating of us going with a young baby as the buggy would be a problem for them. Once we managed to work out a method, we were allowed to stay. 10mins in. The next was the food. I was really excited to go to a bbq restaurant as it's once of my favourite types of restaurant, unfortunately this was not BBQ food, it was pretty basic. Ribs: these were tough and probably reheated from a packet, alot of the meat was just way too hard and tough, not what a BBQ ribs should be. Iwould actually rate harvester ribs over these, as they are actually cooked with a flame grill. Alot of meat ould not come off, and this was not the slow cooking kind of restaurant, I actually think these were some of the worst ribs and were definitely microwaved. Next the burgers, this was quite a disappointment as the burger was very small and quite plain and dry. The sauce I asked for wasn't in there. Next, The wet fries, this was not hickory sauce, it was basic BBQ sauce, tasted like the sickly sugar stuff that MC Donald's have, way to much sugar and not a essence of whisky at all. How is it hickory? It wasnt! Bland and overly sweet. I did feel the oven chips were probably the safest bet at this place, yes oven chips but that awful sauce ruined them, not to worry I wasnt going to stop here. What else can I get to redeem the experience. The desert menu was next! This was pretty basic but I did find a good one, the "star wars". Milky way magic stars, marshmallows and ice-cream. This was good other than the cheap basic ice-cream which was the base of it. I feel they could have done alot better really, it didn't capture the essence of American dining at all. I would give the ice-cream a 3.5/5. I also had a dr pepper float, this chocolate ice-cream wasnt very good either, there were chunks of ice in there, kind of like the left over last bits of ice-cream which have been left to refreeze. The waiting staff at each time, when they come to see us, really didn't seem to enjoy being at work, the rudeness was so obvious. Getting the bill and card machine was slow. I don't think I will be taking my friends there again. Next time think hard about if you want it to be memorable for the right reasons. Price= 50 for 2 I felt was fine, but the food could have been so much more, to be worth that. The experience has left me bitter about the buddies chain. I won't be going to one anytime soon.
Stopped as passing on a journey. Food was very nice. Good portions and the lady that served us was very pleasant. Only criticism really was that the toilets and entrance needed a hoover. Would I stop again here..Yes!
If this was the first Buddies I'd ever visited I wouldn't visit any others. Thankfully I've visited others so know the service here is not represtative of others. The food was of a good standard, there's no denying it, and it's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. There were 3 members of staff on duty whilst I was there yet nobody asked during my meal if everything was okay. Nor was I asked if I wanted a refill on my drink which I'd finished before my meal arrived. For most of my meal there was a member of staff standing close to me who was very obviously watching me eat which is very off-putting. All 3 members of staff looked miserable and there was no indication of who the manager was on shift. I was also unimpressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant as there was a considerable amount of food under the tables adjacent to us. At the end of the meal a waitress asked "Have you finished eating? Was it okay?" to which I replied "hmmm, it was just okay." At any other establishment I would normally be asked why it was "just okay" or how it could have been improved, but the waitress seemed content with my response. The impression I got was almost as though nobody cared, and there was nobody driving the restaurant forward or taking pride in the quality of the service.
Was so disappointed, had a veggie burger with chips and coleslaw, and a milkshake, well the chips were under cooked, the veggie burger was in a cheap bun, the burger was tiny and cheap would be able to buy better better from a supermarket, mushrooms not even sliced just cut in half, as for the milkshake was on the menu as a thick milkshake and came in a polystyrene cup with a drinking lid was so thin was not offended nor did it come with a straw, at over 12 pounds should have thrown the money away, but I did throw 3/4 of the food away. Hope it was just my experience and others is a better dinning experience.

Fresh cooked food and coffee this roadside diner is on the site of the old kellys kitchen / little chef chain located off the main A45 near the rushden lakes complex offers a all day breckfast and burger menu in a USA hiway style diner. plenty of americana theams on the walls including a locomotive and carrages up by the ceiling that is sometimes on the move around the room. tv screens show US theamed tv shows can be busy in the evening times the staff are helpfull and friendly parking spaces are shared by the holiday inn next door with mobilaty parking bays 2 by the front door
Amazing food. Nice and quiet on a Monday lunch time. Nice staff and nice interior with a train which runs along the top round the seating area every so often.
Food nasty. Cook couldn't even do a boiled egg to go with my salad= half a lettuce, half an onion and a couple of little tomatoes halved! Floor sticky. Table and surfaces disgusting. Service quick, but they didn't care!
A lovely little diner. I stopped here on my way home from a long drive. It was quite late and I got on just before they stopped serving food. As it was late there was only one waitress and despite this the service was superb. She was dealing with the multitude of customers that were there with a spring in her step and an infectious smile on her face. The food was well priced and wholesome. Highly recommend.
