This was a fantastic experience. When you first arrive, it’s not immediately obvious that the museum is more than a couple of trains. But, when you go outside it’s clear that the museum is absolutely huge and full of loads of different types of trains, with plenty of buildings to look at. There’s something for everyone here, including a steam train that you can ride on, and a miniature railway which was absolutely charming. The food is pretty good too. The price of the tickets is definitely worth it. I’d recommend this for any railway enthusiasts!
Really good day out and the Children loved it. Amazing museum to walk around. Children enjoyed meeting the train drivers. The only slight down side was the train journey was very short. I'm sure it was longer when I was a child.
Been here twice now, once for Thomas day and once for a normal steam day. Neither disappointed. One small boy awed by big machinery and engines, played for an hour with train sets in the visitor centre, unlimited rides and a great miniature railway. The Thomas day was amazing with so much to do and on the normal steam day we stayed almost 6 hours without getting bored.
Quite a hidden gem but it’s hard to work out when it’s open or not! Their information on Google was wrong as compared to what is on their website. I would definitely recommend visiting their website. You can also only access the museum via Quainton as the road is currently closed. I think this stopped many people getting there. HOWEVER when you arrive it is very well put together for somewhere that is clearly ran by very enthusiastic volunteers. There is plenty going on for children and the exhibitions are very well organised and interesting.
Fantastic day out for all ages. Staff extremely friendly and full of knowledge. Cafe was really nice and not too expensive. Would definitely like to visit again.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
My son loves visiting here. There's a shop, cafe with food. Brio style trains for kids to play with. Carriages to explore. A steam train to ride although is a very short journey a few hundred metres up the track and back. A miniature railway to ride. A museum. Themed events.
An interesting meeting of the underground Metropolitan and the Great Central Railway. A nice cafe and museum and a chance for a short ride on a steam train. Also today Bank holiday special many old cars, buses etcVisited onPublic holidayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYes
Excellent experience. We came here for a Thomas the Tank Engine day and it was brilliant 3 adults and 2 children. Life size Thomas and Percy that you ca ride. There was a museum with history about trains and the railways. It had some food stalls and café. It also has a nice picnic area and a mini railway ride as well. I would recommend. Very good. Thomas is only on Thomas the Tank engine days!
If I could give 6 stars I would. Brilliant sunny day. Lots to see and do and Peppa Pig made an appearance too. Loved the variety of train rides.
Great fun for little ones! We took our soon to be 2yr old grandson. Thomas mad! He loved all the trains.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
