My new fav museum. It’s got a little of everything all tied to the local area. Seriously from Roman ruins to Windrush, very worth a visit. Plus there’s a 500 year old tree out back. What a great time!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
These little local poorly funded museums are probably the type I love most. Yes the curation quality is a bit old an tatty but that adds to the charm for me. The type of local specific gems of history knowledge you get that these places, you wouldn't stumble across anywhere else such as Alexandra Palace effectively being a prison in WW2. Plus you get all the time in the world to mooch around on a lazy day with no crowds setting your pace for you, such as if in a bigger museum. The building itself is a grade one listed beauty too. Take a look at the lock from inside the toilet on first floor and if a toilet lock is a beautiful as that, imagine what other treasures there are here!
Being a paranormal investigator I've been there so many time at night. The rumor is that the ghost of Lady Constantia Colerain is haunting the castle. She was the landlord wife who committed suicide there back in the 1690 after being locked up in one of the castle towers. But aside from all of this, the museum it's really nice and interesting to visit, it was free at the time I was living in London and still it should be. I highly recommend you to pay a visit to the castle you won't regret it. Also outside, just a few yards from it there is All Allowed Church, a thousand years old building where the body of Lady Constantia has been laid to rest. I miss you a lot UK.
Bruce Castle Museum is a hidden gem in the heart of Tottenham. The museum is housed in a stunning 16th-century manor house, which adds a historical charm to the visit. The exhibits cover a wide range of local history, from art and culture to social history and local heritage. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, providing insightful information about the displays. The museum also has beautiful gardens that offer a peaceful escape. It's a fantastic place to learn about the local area's rich history and enjoy a relaxing day out.
Fantastic Grade 1 listed building. This building is filled with history. Deborah, the museum curator is honestly amazing and have limitless wealthy of knowledge about this building history and indeed about about surround area. I'd highly recommend visiting this museum if you are a local resident or interested in North London history and visiting one of its most prized historic buildings.
No question a 4* sort of place, could even be 5*. This is a free to enter local museum and former 'stately home'. Items of display are of local history and also some of postal history relating to a connection with Rowland Hill. There is also an art gallery with changing exhibits. There was a nice children's play area too. Pleasant place to pass an hour.
First visit, but not my last. What a wonderful gem in North London. Who knew there was such an amazing museum with a fantastic curator. The park is stunning and perfect for a family day out. I wish I had made my way up years ago. Highly recommend going to see the current Beatrice Offor exhibition for her centenary: an artist whose name you may not recognise, but whose paintings you will when you see them.
Kerry took me around the museum & it was amazing to learn about the history of the area & Bruce Castle. I recommend that children & adults from the local area must visit this museum. It was emotional & loved every second of my visit. Thank you to Kerry, Deborah & Lucy. Amazing staff & so polite.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
