A fantastic treasure just outside northampton, looks lovely as a venue and a great dining experience. Staff are really friendly and professional, it's a wide menu and what we had tasted great. They have a good drinks section and should have something for everyone. Can recommend and can't wait to return.
Dashed in here for a quick bite to eat, whilst my Son played Rugby. I had the mixed grill my wife had the Haloumi. Quick service, good food pleasant environment. Lovely fire adds to the perfect ambiance. Well done
Had a great lunch with the family, great service and the food was hot, fresh and came out in good time. Would certainly recommend.
I had a feeling when I pulled into the massive car park with loads of space, that this was going to be a great experience. I wasn't disappointed, the second you walk in, you feel that you are in a warm welcoming, friendly place. You're notified straight away that's its a dog friendly bar, love that. People often don't like to ask, no need here. The nice decor, open fire, and simple layout makes you feel welcomed, and the very friendly staff, especially Sam, makes you feel like you're having dinner with family. And as if that wasn't enough, the food was simply superb. I had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes were perfect!
First time visit for us & we will definitely be returning. You can tell by the moment you walk in that this eatery is good by the amount of people there, although that being said there is more than enough space with the tables well laid out. We were shown to our table by the waiting staff and offered the menus, we chose our drinks & meals which were soon with us. We both had the turkey Sunday lunch which was perfectly cooked & piping hot. We then both had a dessert which again was excellent. Both our drinks, meals & desserts came to less than £45 which I consider to be of very good value. We will certainly be returning again & we would very highly recommend the Britannia for a top quality good value meal that is served by excellent staff in lovely surroundings.
Food was good but staff were very slow. I think possibly short of staff as one waitress hardly managed to leave the front door for customers coming in. Super busy. Food was quick to arrive though and tasty. Bar man was efficient.
This was meant to be my Birthday celebration meal with the family! The staff were attentive but noticeably too few for the covers seated. I reserved the table for 12.15 with the tried and tested opinion that everything coming out of the kitchen would have been recently freshly prepared. This proved not to be the case. The starters were acceptable at best with no outstanding features. I was looking forward to the beef rib which I was informed had sold out! This was 12.15!! The roast meals reminded me of the frozen meals I used to be able to buy from the supermarkets. The tender stem broccoli and carrots were very overcooked, the roast potatoes were poor quality frozen types, the meat was varied across the four plates and then we all agreed that the Yorkshire puddings smelled and tasted as though they had been deep fried. Everything was edible but poor quality of ingredients. At the end of a meal out which is a rare treat for me, I enjoy an Irish coffee. The bar person explained that he had never made one so I gave him instructions as regards what to use and how to make it. To be fair, I award him 10/10 for effort but 3/10 for execution. It arrived in a European style 8oz cup with cream slopped into the saucer. The staff were all very amenable and seemed to be coping well whilst hard pushed. I was grateful to be able to use some discount vouchers as this brought the bill down to a more realistic price to reflect the experience.
We booked a family celebration here and were completely let down by just about every aspect of our visit. The only thing that was OK about the meal was the drinks, and they couldn't ruin those! The meals appeared to have been reheated from lunchtime, they were lukewarm at best, portions sizes were not generous and the presentation...it looked as if the food had been thrown on the plates. Not one single person in our group of 10 enjoyed their food. If I was the chef I would have been ashamed or embarrassed to offer this apology for a meal, and it was only out of respect and not wishing to embarrass the family that I kept calm and did not make a forceful complaint about the whole event.
Great food and ambience though the service was a little slow throughout.
Well after reading the lovely reviews about this pub I can only say we must have picked the wrong day to come ,while it's a lovely pub the food was rubbish I had the cod and chips which we waited quite a while for and my husband had the cheese bacon burger it all came out not cold but not as hot as I would like it my fish was really overdone and the mushy peas you could have filled a hole in the wall with they were crispy and my husbands burger was actually burnt ,when your paying nearly £15 each you expect a decent meal we were going to complain but the poor chap behind the bar was on his own with loads of people to serve ,I felt sorry for him so we just left and we won't be returning, £15 a person is a lot to pay for pub grub I know it's not fine dining but you need to sort yourselves out I gave you 2 stars only because its a nice pub
