This historical site features an ancient place of worship with exquisite craftsmanship.
Although I’m a regular visitor to Bridlington this is the first time that I’ve ventured up to the Old Town and visited the Priory.nIt is well worth a visit, with lots to see from beautiful stained glass to Memorials to the fallen men of Bridlington in WW1 to a crafted timeline of the Priory created by local ladies.nThere is also a small gift shop on site.nIt was lovely to meet some of the very knowledgeable guides and also to be able to take a few photos.nIf you love History this is well worth a visit.
On a chance visit, we were welcomed into the church by a couple of very friendly and knowledgable lady volunteers, who were happy to chat and answered all of our questions.nIt is an amazing, large parish church. Originally an Augustinian priory, until dissolved by Henry VIII's vandals, they did at least leave the nave untouched to serve the local population.nThere is a wonderful, high wooden ceiling, some beautiful stained glass windows and lots of elaborate memorials on the walls.nBridlington must have grown a lot between 1918 and 1939 - it is the only place I have been where there are very nearly as many names on the 1939 - 45 memorial as on that for 1914 - 18.
A beautiful church situated in Bridlington town. It has signs around the ground to inform you on the history of the building too
Beautiful old church, some of the best stained glass we have ever seen. We were made to feel very welcome, one of the volunteers introduced themselves, gave us a brief history of the church and a useful leaflet. Serving teas and coffees when we visited. Free parking near the church or there's a free car park in Old Bridlington. Worth a visit.
