Story

At Brewers Fayre we've thought of everything. Great value, great food, great family friendly atmosphere; we've got the lot. Our menu is packed full of family favourites all freshly prepared by our trained Chefs. Opened in 1996, the Turnpike is an ideal base or stopover for families exploring Yorkshire & beyond, as we're situated just a minute's drive away from the M62/A1 junction. To keep the kids happy we have a free outdoor & indoor children's play area, which they can enjoy whilst you choose something from our tasty menu of pub classics. So, next time you're visiting Xscape, Pontefract Racecourse or Pontefract Castle make sure you stop by!

Original review "Decent food, parking, fair prices and the staff seem to have a good attitude. The downside is that it tends to get rather busy." Update:- During our last visit this place has gone down hill, the food was rather disappointing but the service (while being performed by friendly and polite staff) was very disorganised. On our second day at breakfast we ordered porridge then ordered the cooked section of the meal, this was delivered before the porridge! That evening we had a meal deal and as requested when placing the order asked for main course drink and sweet, the sweets arrived 30 seconds before the main course! Next day at breakfast the cooked course arrived before the porridge again. This is systematic failure and needs to be addressed.

Very good food, had a voucher which helped with costs. The pint of Teleys was not the best but my Strongbow was good. The services was good and we were not waiting long for food, although it was not really busy. Good overall.

Went last night. 8oz Steak over cooked. Chips were hard. Although partners T bone cooked how he liked. Very slow service. The girl fetching the food out brought the kids meal out last so our 1 year old was left waiting. Left all steak sauces in the kitchen. By the time they came out we'd already started eating. Nobody came round and asked if food was ok. Terrible service to say we spent £100+. Gave it another try as last time we came was decent. Will give it a miss next time.

Good food, good service and reasonably priced. Theres also a decent size play area for the kids - which certainly kept them busy whilst the food was being prepared for us.

Delicious food, friendly and helpful and efficient staff, good play area for children. The ideal place for a family meal.
