Simple and well priced. Sadly the kitchen closed at 8.45pm on the evening I visited - had KFC from across the car park. But had a beer in here. Quiet and relaxed. Edit - Next morning. This is where you have breakfast if you stay at the Premier Inn next door. And like all Premier Inns they do a great breakfast. And have to give a positive comment on the breakfast waiting staff.
I don’t eat here regularly but I did today. My post is purely in favour of the bar staff who are the best of the best. I had nachos which were fine would be better with guacamole but I go here regularly and the bar staff are second to none. Izzy is outstanding, but I’ve never had bad service from any of your servers. I came here out of convenience of location but I keep coming because of the excellent customer service! They are so professional, so kind! That’s why I keep coming back. The outside could do with a spruce up but you’re definitely doing something right with your staff!
Pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. We came for a carvery and booked very last minute, as pub we had booked wasn't doing Sunday roasts. The roast potatoes were simply perfect. The best I have had from any pub roast in a very long time. Vegetables were all cooked and tasted great. 2 choices of meets. Staff were helpful and the pubs regulars were friendly too. I would recommend you book for the carvery as a fair few people weren't able to get a table due to the tables being booked. We enjoyed our visit and booked for the following week.
Our first visit here on a Sunday afternoon, we came in for a roast dinner. On arrival, service was excellent, the waiters were very informative and helpful. We ordered 2 large roast beef dinners for the low sum of around £10 each. We couldn't fault the food, great portions and very tasty. We were bought extra gravy on request and we could have had unlimited refill on the roast potatoes and yorkshires if we weren't full. We did make room for dessert though which was also delicious. After we received our mains, the level of service did drop as staff changed shifts and it was difficult to get attention of the waiters despite the very low volume of diners. In the end we were in the restaurant for almost 2 hours and should have been done in just 1. Couldn't fault the food and value, and I'm sure we'll be returning again soon.
Thank you to Dawn, Lucy & Andy for looking after me whilst I was staying at Premier Inn near Southmead Hospital looking after my Mum. Really enjoyed my Continental breakfasts I had with you. Great selection of lovely food and you could have as much as you wanted to eat. Thank you again for everything and letting me have a quiet table by myself. Best wishes Helen xxx
Dawn was the wonderful lady who greeted us and sat us down at our seats, we have come back twice now and always so happy to see when she is working. A ray of sunshine on some hard days as we are hear to be close to the hospital. Dawn is a legend and the friendliest face, has always gone the extra mile for us :
We had a wonderful meal each here today. I had Smothered chicken, my daughter had a cheese burger and an extra burger with Garlic breaded mushrooms alongside them. Just what we needed. The meals were brought to us within a short time of ordering them. My daughter had a refillable cold drink while I had a refillable mug of tea. Lovely. The service was excellent. They made sure we had everything we needed. Quiet but nice enough that you were able to hear yourselves speak. We like it here. We'll be back. Thank-you
Went for a carvery at 3pm booked and not a lot of meat was left, but staff said we could have as much as we wanted of all the other food, as they were about to clear the carvery away. Very nice helpful staff, but the pub was looking tatty. Toilets were. Flooded so out of order. Could o ky use the disabled loo with baby cha going in it, but it was really dirty with loo roll Al over the floor and bins over flowing.
The staff were very friendly but when we googled child friendly pubs it said it had a play area. Unfortunately this pub does not have a play area for children. The lady was very nice and recommended another brewers fayre in Portishead.
pub that's part of the premier Inn next door. I paid ten pounds for a cheese and bacon burger with no bacon. no atmosphere to speak of , but has plenty of empty tables, at least. Highly recommend walking over the road to the air balloon instead.Food: 2/5
