We came across this pub while looking for someone where to eat. From the outside it doesn't look like much but when you enter its a long pub with plenty of seating. We sat near the door with ample space. The staff were friendly and the bar had a local feel to it with people drinking and chatting. I appreciated the area kept clear for service. The food was hot, fresh and very tasty. Thanks for a lovely meal and being a great pit stop to dodge the rain and reful.
Good sized pub serving food and having plenty of space for dogs to spread into. A couple of beers on tap Old Speckled Hen and Timothy Taylor Landlord when we visited. We were in on a Sunday and they had some roast potato plates on the bar as bar snacks ... bonus.
On holiday in Berwick and discovered this little gem. Unique windows drew us in and I'm so glad they did.nReally old fashioned pub feel and you don't get that much these days. We went on a Sunday and food was a plated roast with 3 choices of meat or vegetarian option. We tried beef and chicken between us and both were beautiful, on the side vegetable selection was huge. Carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, sweet potato and cabbage. Roasts, Mash, swede and Yorkshire in addition to the most as well. All for £10 per adult and £6 per child.nService was great as well, travelling with 2 children and a toddler and nothing was too much trouble, they got all the extras we asked for extra plate/spoon/sauce with a smile and talked with us about our holiday etc.nWould recommend if your in the area!
I agree with the previous review nnThis pub is a must for good wholesome pub food for a great price.nWe both had lentil soup with a warm crusty roll followed by steak pie with a generous portion of stew/gravy and a delicious puff pastry on top.nThis was served with a medley of perfectly cooked vegetables, chips or mash.nn2 starters/2 mains/2 drinks for £23 which great value considering the quality of food and of course attentive service with a smile from the team of ladies.Well done to all the staff!!!!
Great Sunday dinner , I had the beef , my friend the pork , both succulent and tendernAfter service ended at 16.00, chef brought the remaining unsold Yorkshire puddings and roasties into the bar so customers could help themselves , along with a jug of gravy and platesnGreat friendly bar staff too, highly recommend
