We headed here before catching a train from Waverley. They use coffee roasted themselves and have excellent knowledge of their product. We had a flat white pictured and cappuccino using their Kenyan blend, and both were excellent. A decaf espresso followed and this had an interesting complexity not often found in decaf. Despite not really needing any more beans at home for a while, I had to grab a bag and was glad to hear they offer free postage. There was a small range of food on offer but it's clearly been selected carefully. The jammy dodger cookie pictured on the train was very special but the real star was the sandwich. The fried aubergine option was the best sandwich I've had in a very long time. The owner is very knowledgeable and shares what he knows freely, helped by the counterless design. This made for a less formal space and encouraged interaction. Overall, this was a great visit and I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in Edinburgh.
The best coffee experience every coffee lover could wish for. I love when people with passion do what they love and they do it well and this place it definitely a great example! The ambience and the owner himself were second to none. A must visit when in Edinburgh seeking great coffee! Definitely the best coffee I’ve had in a while.
The most amazing coffee I have had in Edinburgh and possibly the best coffee I have ever had. Fermented beans imported by the shop owner directly from farmers in Columbia and across the world, and then hand roasted in East Lothian. I have had a lot of expensive coffee, but none as distinctive as the brew at The Source. If you love coffee then don't miss your chance to have an espresso at this place.
This place has instantly become my favourite coffee spot in Edinburgh from the first visit. I was literally blown away by their flat white, which was unbelievably aromatic and flavourful. I’ve tried other menus as well pour over and hot choc and they were also out of this world. I really couldn’t ask for more.
We enjoyed this place, this coffee and communication with owner of this business. Coffee is really really special and tasty. Good quality for a good price. With a nice atmosphere. Also with sweets, if you want some. Owner is very friendly and created this place with an idea of a coffee spot only. Not a cafe, no other food. Only high quality coffee. Amazing
We just discovered such a nice little corner in the heart of Edinburgh with one of the best coffees we've tried lately. The owner roasts beans from a variety of small farmers and brews an excellent coffee. The place is very cozy with excellent music and delicious vegan treats. This is your place if you love speciality coffee and a nice and relaxed atmosphere.
The best coffee I've ever had! This is coffee mastery to an unprecedented level. The expresso was flavourful, complex in taste, just at the right temperature, and an experience lasting long after the sip of this exquisite coffee. To top it off, it was served by such a kind and knowledgeable host, who is clearly eager to share his passion for this black nectar from its roasting process to the milligrams of coffee ground that each serving must be made from. This coffee shop is now part of a closed circle of food & drinks shops that I feel compelled to visit every time I'm passing by the city centre.
The Source is amazing! The coffee was delicious and they are very knowledgeable about their product. Andrew even took the time to feed my curiosity, explaining the thought behind the logo and the sourcing of their coffee beans - which is directly from the farm. I highly recommend a visit!
Had way too much coffee in the span of 1 hour 6 shots but the chat, music and general vibe was excellent! Definitely one to recommend if you're into specialty coffee at all and get the Nicaragua Honey if you can!
The best coffee roastery in Edinburgh. Highly espresso focused with the best SOE coffee from Colombia and other places, roasted by the owner himself. The menu is in Australian style because that's where the owner is from. The shop is coffee focused with several cakes and pastries selection. There are non-dairy oat milk for flat white. Dogs are well welcome for the shop. For espresso they are using a Slayer and the baristas made their espresso consistent and delicious. For pour over they are using Kalita which gives a strong body. The coffee are usually in light roast with clear acidicty notes. Highly recommend to home baristas since their coffee works for every types of brewing. The also serve hot chocolate, chai latte, mocha latte and tea for your friends who don't wanna do coffee in a coffee shop. They don't serve sugar or syrup, and their coffee does not need those to be taste perfect. Highly recommend for coffee lovers. Vegetarian options: All the pastries they serve are vegan, and they also serve oat milk as well. The barista and the owner here are vegan so the shop is pretty vegan-friendly.
