Absolutely stunning ! Such a lovely place. We went here on a rainy day and it was just breathtaking. It was quiet as it was a week day , we only saw a couple of people . We took our dog with us and he had a great time . There's so much to explore! There is a cafe and toilets , and you can buy 30p bags of duck feed, this would be great for little ones , and adults yes ,I couldn't resist Restrooms: Accessible free toilets Dog-friendliness: The only non dog friendly areas I had notice were the cafe & the walled garden , I don't think this applies to service dogs though . Picnic area: There is a picnic area
We decided it would be a good place to walk our dog and we were not disappointed. Despite clearly having been there for many years it has good fresh signage and plenty of parking. The walks were well marked using easy to navigate colored arrows and posts. The café had seating both inside and out. The toilets were very clean. There were play areas for the children and a wonderful selection of trees making up the forest. Good job. Playground: There were two separate playgrounds which appeared to be geared towards older and younger ages. Restrooms: The toilets were open functional and CLEAN. Good job guys. Picnic area: Clean outdoor tables insight of the children's playground.
Visited on the way back from holiday, is a beautiful place with walk great for younger kids or anyone looking for a more challenging route. There is a walled gardens with a wishing well and a playground right next to the cafe and the food and refreshments are really nice. Parking was cheap and was able to use the RingGo app to pay was £3.20 for all day parking. Well worth a visit. Great for a walk in nature's woodlands
Thid is a wonderful family friendly place to bring your family. You have to pay for parking but it isn't much. NOT CONTACT LESS PAYMENT AT CAR PARK. We went to the cafe and brought some duck feed and went to feed the ducks. There is a vast array of wild life. Squirrels, Robins ducks and deer. This place is wheelchair friendly and there most paths are wheelchair friendly as well. Beautiful scenery and good food in the café! Will definitely visit again.
Been twice now for a leisurely walk. There are several colour coded routes to try ranging from 1 to 5 miles. There's parking available on site and additional parking further past the care home Inc. Pictures They have a playground with a few picnic tables, a cafe with standard prices and separate toilet facilities. There's a little hidden garden, which at the time had a honesty box for garden bits and pieces. Overall worth the drive for something different, mainly the peaceful walks through the forest and brecks.
Good walk. £3 parking all day. Shop with refreshments. Public toilets and a park. I like it there. Been twice now. Dog friendly.
First time coming, and ill definitely be back! Miles of trails marked somewhat clearly. Best course of action is to take a picture of the map and share a live location just in case you need to check if you've gone too far. Trail loops can be 1-5 miles, so its easy to go further than you think. Parking is pay 2 pounds/2 hours, but there's upkept public toilets adjacent to a lovely cafe. It's open till 430 most days. Has a proper mix of ready-made goods: sandwiches, pastries, crisps, etc, and even does hot sandwiches and soup. Prices are reasonable. 7 pound for a toastie, latte, and danish! Theres a few gems to discover like the mausoleum, the duck pond, and a few other historic sites within the park. Great looking kids playground if you have little ones, and the cafe does a scavenger hunt for a prize at the end. Dog had a blast although i think she was bummed she has to be on lead the whole. Overall, beautiful, peaceful, i imagine never the same stroll twice.
Such a wonderful place to visit, nature is so awesome. I have been enjoying exploring the area, but only have managed the outskirts, si far more to still discover. Fabulous little cafe outdoor seating, a small playground, and a natural wall garden with a bug hotel! There is a car park, which can get busy, but definitely a place worth exploring.
Accessible / dogs and push chair information at the bottom. I can't do much of a detailed review as I didn't get to walk round the whole park. I only met some friends here but I did walk round a little. When we got there the car park was fairly empty but filled up quick. I only saw two car parks but I assume there might be another for overflow. The parking fee seemed fair as they have a cafe there and I can see people spending more than an hour there. We went to the park to sit and chat as we had a child with us. I had a glimpse of the park and it looked really nice and well kept. We then went to the cafe to have some food and use the toilets. The cafe was quite large, but most people were outside on the benches. The food offered looked really good. Not cheap, not too expensive but a fair price for what you get I think. Like most places on a day out. I got a sausage roll and my friends got drinks. Very nice. As we exited the cafe there were bins. There was also a little table for people to clean their hands if they wish. And also a bucket of duck food with a suggested donation. We bought a few bags. We then went out to walk round to the pond and feed the ducks. The walk to the pond was lovely. Very foresty. Also well kept. No litter anywhere or mess. Once at the pond there were a couple of beaches to sit on and a wide open greenery. Although I do say greenery loosely. This is no fault of the owners but it looked like the grass had suffered from all the heat. Also where the ducks had been coming out, people had been throwing their feed all on the ground which then of course gets eaten by the ducks. There was a sign up saying please do not throw the feed on the floor. But this was widely ignored. I did suggest they should put a sign in the ground stating that the duck feed should be thrown in the pond only. That way the sign might be read more. But some people unfortunately tend to not care. ANYWAY. After feeding the ducks we walked a little further down to a building that I had no idea was there. It was locked up I guess to stop people going in and wrecking it maybe. But it was lovely to see. We wandered around it and took some photos and headed back the same way, past the pond back towards the car park. I would love to visit here again as it seems like it can offer a lot more. There are walking trails and more places to explore. So when I get the chance I will go back and take more pictures to add. From what I've seen so far though, I'd definitely recommend going. Regarding accessibility. They had ramps into the cafe, so you could get a wheelchair, scooter or pushchair into them. All the paths that I have been on were fairly flat and easy to walk on. The toilets were easy to access and get in and out of. Also kept clean and tidy on the day we went. I saw a few people with dogs on leads so I think it's a good dog walking spot. Playground: I only saw little bits of the playground, but it looked like all the kids were having fun on them. There are a few benches around the play area with bins too. Restrooms: The restrooms are easy to access by the side of the cafe. Easy to get to with a wheelchair, scooter or pushchair. I can't quite remember if they had a separate toilet for disabled or baby changing but next time I go I will look out for it and update. Dog-friendliness: As mentioned in my review, I did see quite a few dogs on leads so I reckon its a good spot for dog walkers. Picnic area: There are a few benches around the park, so I'd say you could have a picnic anywhere you wanted. There's even large lot of greenery, if you go near the duck pond and sit a couple of meters away where the grass isn't as worn, you could sit on a blanket if there's no room on the benches.
Love this place, several walks planned out with different things to look for. The woodland is well kept and beautiful. Very dog friendly, with many benches to sit on throughout all walks. The cafe and loos available are good, with outdoor seating. There is a fee for parking, but it isn't expensive and all worth it in my opinion. We visited in summer with full intention to go back in Autumn to see the colour changes.
