I called the surgery at 8.28 am and the engaged tone was on. This continued until 8.42 am when the tone went to ringing, which it rang for at least 5 minutes before the phone was eventually picked up. I had just finished night shift and arrived home to my husband with a face resembling an elephant due to a dental abscess. My husband is not registered with a dentist but being an X nurse and X dental nurse I knew he needed an antibiotic, so that's why I called the surgery. I asked for an emergency appointment for my husband and explained why. The receptionist said straight away that all emergency appointments had gone, so I would have to ring back at 2 and try again for an emergency appointment. I said I would be asleep as I work nights, so I asked to make the appointment now for 2 pm. The receptionist repeated herself and said you have to ring back at 2 and try for an emergency appointment again. I called before the surgery opened this morning and when they eventually picked up, they said all emergency appointments had gone, so excuse me for thinking the same would happen at 2pm. I raised my voice when she said I had to call back at 2 and the receptionist RUDELY HUNG UP on me. If anything happens to my husband before he gets seen. I will hold Brackley Medical Centre personally liable. " Duty of Care " I think not!
