First time there and I’m impressed. Menu with a lot of choices and the quality. Ahh I tried the stakes… something incredible especially “kangaroo” served on the hot stone, something special I’m telling you. It’s a quiet place on the Sunday afternoon when I was there and I really enjoyed my time. The staff is really polite and helpful. I recommend this place for the food! Thanks :
Had a meal here tonight with my girlfriend. Been wanting to try this place for a while as the exotic meats really sounded appealing. We arrived without a reservation after the gym amd were seated quickly, the manageressluca? was the only FOH member working but this didnt stop her giving friendly efficient service, not forgetting to check if we needed any further drinks and always doing a check back on our courses. My girlfriend is vegetarian so she reluctantly came with me to this venue, but her cauliflower starter was very nice, and she said the vegetarian burger was the best shes had in a while, the calamari was great, and my tri of meats was absolutely beautiful,the concept that it is cooked in front of you is very good, as it takes pressure of the kitchen and is a good talking point for the table, allowing you to cook to your taste preference. I honestly cant recommend it enough. When receiving the bill i was shocked at the prices didnt bother to look when ordering, i would have happily paid 10-20% more than what it was. This has been the best meal out ive had for a long time, cant wait to come again.
Impromptu visit early on a Saturday evening. Able to get a table straight away, staff were friendly and helpful. Good range of alcohol free drinks but only limited vegetarian options. Outdoor seating available too.
It is so worthwhile going into this pub as the food is far better than my first impressions from the outside the car park at night!. We ordered a fillet steak cooked on the stone and a sirloin steak. Both were really tasty and cooked to perfection. The best onion rings we have ever had and that is one of my tests, as I hate it when there is more batter than the measly single ring of onion inside. We had a Baileys and Biscoff cheesecake and a warm peach and pecan pie. Again wonderful. Service was excellent too. My only 2 small criticisms are that I thought the dining area smelt like burnt meat and the bay window area is a little cold. However, we will definitely be back and may be more adventurous and try the zebra, or other wild meat.
Really disapointing. Weve been there a few times over the years. Always for steak. It was ran by an indian fella before. And it was outstanding. Whom ever is now running it couldnt run a bath tap properly. Not once did anyone clear our drinks, anyone ask us how the meal was. Every time we needed service we had to ask for it. Not saying they were bad. Infact really nice kids. But little bit more expirience. The steaks were okay. But we had always have fillet, but one was sent out and it was rump. They refused to belive that. The prawn starter. Were 5 shrimps. Tiny. They served the steak on a bed of sauce. Food is very overpriced for what came. I.e. the prawns. The steak was fair priced. We wont use them again and we normally do twice a year. Thanks for the hosting but youv lost a spender.
Classy, intimiate. Very nice and knowledgable server and the steaks…. Delicious. Steaks are served sizzling on hot stones and you finish them how you like at the table. Great fun concept and genuinely a delicious way to finish a steak.
Not as expected at all. Food very average. Very slow and poor service. Waited quite a long time for a table even though pre booked. Drinks took ages to arrive, as did the food. Waiter forgot 3 things I had asked for and one of them wrong. Garlic cheese bread was so small and very basic. Lighting very bright. More of a cafe than a dining room. Lack of atmosphere.Would not be returning or recommend.
Visited for my anniversary. Staff were very attentive. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were very tasty. Felt very special with the little detail of putting love on our desserts. Looking forward to our next visit
First time I have been here after a recommendation from a friend, absolutely fantastic food, definitely worth a visit, will be going again for sure
This our 2nd visit to Boxmoor, if you’re in the area well worth a visit, steak is perfect
