Excellent food and brilliant staff. Very well priced as well as availability of great tap beers. Was a very fine line between giving it 4 or 5 stars on the previous visit but with full availability of some good draft beers now, my family will continue to go back again for the scrumptious roasts that are available. The attached photo says it all really.
Starting with the food… generally the food available was excellent. We travelled from the south coast to visit family and your meals are far tastier in my opinion, and the welcome of course was brilliant!! Unfortunately there was no bread sauce and some of the sweets were unavailable but this doesn’t detract from the excellent service!! I have an autistic son and he visited your vegetable counter a number of times and your server ‘Omar’ ?? was superb looking after him at each visit. May I also thank your server ‘Beverley’ who was extremely polite, pleasant and friendly throughout. Unfortunately, many outlets only receive negative feedback but I felt compelled to add this feedback this evening. Superb evening, thankyou so much for a memorable visit. I was here to visit my elderly mother and tonight rounded off our visit perfectly. I am a regular customer of your Bournemouth and Poole branches. I do hope they can match your northern colleagues, nevertheless, they too have served us well. Sincere regards.
Called in for a drink at around 7.40 pm. On arrival we were approached and asked abruptly if we had booked. We said no as we only wanted a drink. There were several empty tables but were informed they were fully booked. We stated again we only wanted a drink. Staff made it pretty clear that we were not welcome as they wanted to clear down and go home. The empty tables were not refilled. We left at around 9.40pm and I doubt we will ever return. Having worked in hospitality for many years I would have been appalled if any member of staff had made my customers feel so unwelcome. It is such a shame we have come to this. There is no wonder the hospitality industry is struggling as staff no longer know the meaning of hospitality. I wonder if the management is aware how their clientele are treated or if this is new protocol.
Excellent all round. Despite staff shortages due to staff illness we were looked after very well. Carvery chef was a lovely chap and was working fast to manage the queue. Glad we booked a 4.30 table as it was extremely busy when we left at about 5.30pm. Food quality was excellent and an unbelievably good price using 50% off voucher.
Came with my autistic son when it was quiet and it was lovely and relaxed. Food was good quality and even the beef was nice. I did however feel like their Mac n Cheese needs some work as it was so dry and not cheesy, basically like putting plain pasta on my roast dinner. Other then that the food was nice.Food: 4/5
Booking at 12. Had a Living Social voucher for 2 x 2 course meals. After waiting for bar staff and confusion how to process the voucher, I eventually sat down with my daughter at 12.25. I did express my annoyance and was kindly offered complimentary drinks. The food was fine the honeycomb dessert was really nice. Seemed understaffed, but did their best to remedy my issues.
Not been here for a while but went for lunch using a wowcher deal was seated straight away and our waitress Emma couldn't do enough for us she was so friendly and easy going. She was there when she was needed and not in our face. The carvery was served by Joe very polite calling you sir and madam definitely above and beyond any other carver we've come across after today's visit these two definitely made it special and the food was awesome offering 4 different meats amazing value for money. Parking: Parking was easy plenty of empty spots and all spread out.
Staff do their best despite being clearly overworked and understaffed. Have to wait a little while for drinks orders or getting card machine to pay the bill but it’s clearly not their fault. Great easy meal out, especially if you have a Blue Light Card you can get discount off food. Kitchen staff at the carvery are lovely and always up for a bit of a chat. Standard Toby.
Had the festive carvery and booked 2 months in advance. Initially the staff couldn’t find my booking even though we paid a deposit of £5 each. After 10 mins they found it. One of us wanted the mushroom starter which was unavailable. The majority of us also wanted the sundae dessert which was also unavailable as the ice cream a machine broke. Bit of a let down, my previous review of this place was 5 stars.
Your standards have really slipped. I used to really enjoy your carvery. I visited the Toby carvery at Dronfield last Sunday around 5 pm. Most of the food on the carvery looked really dry. There was a mature man carving the joints and he appeared to be on his own. He looked really miserable. Then suddenly about 4 members of staff appeared who I thought were going to assist him, but no they kept on popping in and out of the kitchen. Their main purpose seemed to be preparing take out meals. The food area around the hot plates was really messy. The mashed potatoes had potato skin in it. When fresh Yorkshire puddings were brought out they were piled on top of the old ones. The food was luke warm. It looked like no one cared about the food or the customer. I think you should either concentrate on the carvery in the pub or the take out. A very disappointing experience.
