We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting the north. The location is off the beaten track, but close enough to the motorway for it to have easy access. We were greater by a lovely lady who couldn’t be more helpful even when we checked in at 10:30pm - she even kept the bar open for us to have a quick night cap! Breakfast was included and tasty! We also had dinner at the pub with cocktails/drinks. All food and drink was delicious, especially the thick cut home made chips!!! The staff are happy and friendly, and it’s good to also see them have a laugh between themselves and the customers. I think I read somewhere it’s a family owned business since 2007 and you can really tell that it’s a local, friendly, but also high quality place. If we come up north again, we would stay here for sure!
What a great place! So friendly, really lovely staff. A delightful setting and amazing food. The room was perfect in every way and the prices very reasonable. Definitely recommended and if we're in this part of the country again I'm certain we'd book again.Rooms: 5/5
Family members were staying here and we met for a meal on Saturday evening. Staff were helpful and attentive, served quickly and they kept popping back to check we had everything we needed. Food portions are big.....pub food as expected, the children's portions are also large. Family commented the fish was nice. Chips are homemade. The minted lamb burger was my meal, when it wa initially brought out I thought it had too much goats cheese but actually it was delicious. Variety of drinks. The lunch menu looks like excellent value so we will be back to try that.
Stayed here a few weeks ago with my son in the family room. Decoration in the room is a little dated but they are doing up the rooms at the moment, the bathroom was very nice. All the staff that we dealt with from first checking in to leaving were all very friendly and couldn’t have been any more helpful. Had breakfast every morning which was very nice and freshly made. We ate in the bar and the food was outstanding for our dinner.
From the service to the peas, everything was brilliant. Very nice relaxed environment and huge portions well, we thought so. Best beef Sunday dinner I've had for quite some time and although we were told the the roast turkey was no longer available, they managed to rustle up just enough for ms picky Looking forward to trying out the midweek menu very soon.
Sunday dinner was big portion size with a lot of meat and vegetables. Gravy was runny and plain could have been better . Potatoes skins were delicious. Vegan Thai green curry is presented well . Cheddar chives soup is good but bread served with it is very hard .Good customer service and helpful staff. Nice location with ample parking spaces. Food & drinks: Good Sunday dinner
This is a place you don't just stumble on. It's a bit off the beaten track. Taken there by friends for a meal. Woe. Wished I had known the size of portions before ordering a starter. Had the mince and dumpling Omg. Very tasty dumpling the size of baseball. Very good mash. Partner had smothered chicken with chips and veg. Very Good dianne sauce and plenty of it. Very good chips excellent veg. Easy to recommend to others, but hope you don't take my reservation. Food & drinks: Wished I had known the size of portions before ordering a starter. Just stayed here for 2 nights and have to say it was cracking. Initially saw the hotel from the A1 and went into panic mode because it didn’t look great from there. How wrong we were! Rooms were spotless, spacious and well decorated. Bathroom had a lovely walk in shower. Bar & restaurant were amazing, food was pretty incredible and really excellent value for money. You could tell the food was freshly prepared and home made! Staff were also great, had a laugh with them and they were really helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel on all counts, even the location! Although at the side of a major road, the traffic noise wasn’t bad at all. It was in a great location for exploring though, which is what we wanted.
A small freindly hotel very close to A1/M, but no traffic noise in bedroom. Breakfast good, evening meal in bar tadtey and reasonably priced, good selection of beers. If your visiting Gateshead and don't necessarily want to stay in town, or spend a fortune, would recommend.Rooms: 4/5
Only the outdoor garden is dog friendly even though the carpets inside are older than me ganny. The man who seated us was just arrogant and rude to the bar staff who seemed miserable. Apart from one with dark hair and tattoos she was chatty. Food was decent.Service: 2/5
