Nice sandy beach. Venue for the red arrow air show. Good for family outings especially with young children. Lots of options for food, drink and accommodation. During the air show more temporary shops and amusement rides are available.
Great for families and young children.nnWe visited the beach area beside the pier, really lovely soft sand and clear sea. Some pebbles to skim across the sea, but not so many they hurt your feet and some shells to scout for.nnLifeguards around advising the public and patrolling regularly, so it felt safe.nnSome eateries, ice creams and snacks nearby, even more further out. Where we were there were arcades/amusements, decent public toilets and parking was nearby too up one level accessed by stairs.
Brought the kids here for an afternoon as their older brother was in a dance competition in the nearby civic centre.nnThe beach is lovely, and there is plenty of stuff to do. However, the kids just spent the whole time in the sea.nnThe only problem I have is that I can't get close to the beach in my mobility car. We used a nearby carpark on a hill, which was hard work on crutches.nnThe parking machine was broken, so by the time we downloaded the app and paid, we had lost 20 minutes because the clock starts as soon as you enter the carpark.
Absolutely gorgeous place. A very long beach 7 miles according to google. Lots to explore and try. I imagine that you would need a few day trips or a few days stay to really enjoy the full essence of it. Lots to keep a family occupied. It is a bit over commercialised and packed to the rafters hence I didn’t give it full 5 stars. Couldn’t find a halal place so had to settle for the pictured fish and chips from a food van that was poor value for money. Only later did we see the harry ramsden restaurant. I would suggest going on the observation wheel and from there you can see different parts of the beach and which looks the least packed.
Our favourite beach. Free toilets, easy to access showers, the water and sand are close, shops within walking distance. It's perfect, especially for those will little children!
