This was a surprise in today's scramble to make money, quality and service disappears. This I can say is an exception to this rule. We walked in and were the only people inside, instead of feeling awkward a joke was made and we felt welcomed. We ate bacon and sausage sandwiches which were amazing at just £3.15, we left full. Toured the museum downstairs, a real treasure trove of history and facts we were in there for over 3 hour's then back upstairs for another serving of Cornish hospitality and fantastic food at brilliant prices. If you are around St Austell area then call there hungry, it is a real must visit.
Nice looking Diner, went at half one in the after noon on Monday 23rd august, the staff saw my family enter, watched as we looked at the menu, then as we walked to the bar to order - they all dissapeared! No explanation - no "We will be just a minute" - nothing, so quarter of an hour later we gave up! As we left the serving staff emerged! Such poor service - what a shame - the food looked very nice, the staff looked freindly - but it does explain why the diner was so empty.
We visited on a Sunday during the peak summer season and when the village's regatta was on. We didn't book. Our party included four adults, two teenagers and a toddler. There were lots of high chairs to cater for our little boy. We were greeted by friendly staff and a Sunday menu which included items other than a roast dinner. Two adults had starters which were lovely and large. They looked like main courses and they were said to be really tasty. Three of the adults had roast dinners. There was such a large amount of really good quality meat on each plate, lots of gravy, stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding with roast potatoes and parsnips. The veg was served separately which included carrots, cauliflower cheese, peas and cabbage. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was the finest quality. One of the adults had a fish pie which was full of the most tender of fish pieces. The teenagers thoroughly enjoyed their burger meals. We didn't have room for pudding but everything we saw came out of the kitchen looking fresh and delicious. The Bosuns Diner was not really very busy for a Sunday in peak season but this maybe to do with the lack of advertising in the area. It is next to the shipwreck centre but from the road, it is very difficult to see that there's a separate restaurant there. The decor is as you would expect with a nautical theme and pictures of local shipwrecks on the wall. It's clean and tidy. The toilets are well maintained. There is also a baby change facility. The restaurant can be accessed easily by wheelchairs and pushchairs. We all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and will definitely visit again soon. Let's get the Bosuns Diner on the map. I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant!
