We are a small zoo in mid-Wales, between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth, only a short walk from the Borth railway.

Visit us for a day to remember!

Story

A small, family run zoo which has just recently been taken over by new owners.

Set in the magical landscape of mid Wales with views across the coast to the West this 12 acre park partly acts as a sanctuary or last chance saloon for exotic animals. Many of the animals were hand reared by private owners until they became too difficult or dangerous to handle. Some animals, such as the lions. have been rehoused from other zoos.

We also have a petting barn for if you want to get really close to some furry friends. We have several play areas for children to let off steam and a small cafeteria at reasonable prices if you are feeling hungry.

We had a fantastic morning at the zoo, the staff were so lovely and willing to help it was a lovely day out for us all. We were quite dubious about going after all the controversy about the lynx and like many people we were shocked and horrified but we went and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable days out for our family ever. Yes they have an on going issue with improvements at the zoo but the animals looked well cared for a lot of them being rescued or animals that have been ill treated and rescued. We fed lambs and lemurs watched the monkeys being hand fed by mark it was great. Thank you to all the lovely people at the zoo. Your doing a great job . The Taylor family . Worcestershire.

What a wonderful surprise. We had a great time walking round the Zoo. My favourite was the leopard and the lynx's. That being said, I don't think I've ever seen snakes that big before. The best bit about our visit (other than the animals) were the friendly keepers who were willing to share their passion of these marvelous animals. We loved it!

Great day out, new owners are doing a wonderful job to rejuvenate this zoo and the keepers were passionate about the animals, many of which are rescued pets, and clearly care for them very well. They had plenty of space and their enclosures were clean and well maintained. The entrance fee was fair, the talks and displays (in which the keepers brought out birds of prey and giant snakes for people to see and gold) were entertaining, and the whole experience was comparable to that of a much larger zoo, yet felt very personal and the children could get much closer to the animals.

We were looking for a nice day out whilst staying in Borth and luckily we did a little research into this awful place and decided to avoid it at all costs. Anyone who cares about the welfare of animals, please look into this place before you decide to give them any money. They should be shut down and the animals need to be given a safe and caring place to stay far away from these people. They allowed two lynxes to die as a result of bad procedure and mishandling, there have also been countless escapes. Something really needs to be done, until then: avoid at all costs.

Staff were great. Lots to see at and do. Easy to get around. Would suit a disabled visitor. Disabled parking at the entrance. Kids over it
