Abdul helped me book an appointment for an eye check. Unfortunately on the day of the appointment I discovered this was somehow cancelled without myself knowing, but Abdul managed to still get me seen quickly, which I was very impressed by. The locum optician Yashesh was very friendly and explained what no other optician has ever explained before. He was very professional. Ali helped me choose some frames and was also very friendly and helpful despite being still in training. Magda told me about the clear view option for my lenses which I hadn’t heard about before and is EXACTLY what I wanted as I was having focus problems with my previous glasses from another opticians. So far very satisfied and I await my new glasses.
There was a lot of waiting around and I don’t think the staff had things running smoothly. When I tried to try on some frames I was constantly being upsold on some more expensive lenses, so I ended up having to leave without getting any glasses. They also have a load of the nicer frames locked up and someone has to follow around and open them. It’s not the most relaxed way of browsing. Wouldn’t go back. The optician was really nice and friendly receptionists though.
Person who did test good Lady who did picking glasses was great however the optician I believe Jay seemed really reluctant & pissed when I said I can't use eye machine due to my epilepsy, he did this impatiently. All throughout this appointment I had to keep saying that I needed the glasses tightened as they were loose, he left all the fluorescent lights on so never got a true reading. Every time I have had appointment in Boot's the over head lights get turned off. Also towards the end he used the eye machine despite my reasons why I said to him that I couldn't which was disrespectful. He even admitted to it very proudly oh I used that machine did you want to see the results. So I would say about 2 stars for the optician and 3/4 stars for the 1st and last person person I encountered.
I was made to feel very welcome by everyone. I was also impressed by the professionalism of the people I met. My test was very thorough and my observations taken into account. Everything was explained fully and clearly. I felt under no pressure to buy any glasses, but I surely will.
Staff are always very pleasant and helpful. Saved from having to spend out as much as I usually do and advised to have reading glasses as well as my varifocals until I am due to have my cataracts done. Grateful as I have always been for the service.
I went for an eye test. All the staff that served and tested me were absolutely lovely, very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I will definitely continue to have my eyes tested there in future.
What can I say, it didn't go well. I used boots for years due to family working there. Sadly they left and u was left to have the experience of the manager. Whom has no idea. I had a eye test and the prescription was wrong, so I had to return to do another, which discovered that it needing correcting. But as you know your own eyes, I didn't feel right.so the 3rd time the eye test was done. It was fine tuned eith somebody who knows what they are doing so thank you. However the manager just said I told you they were wrong. When it was me trying to explain I was rhe one who knew the correction needed one more time. She was not happy gave me the glasses, insulted my intelligence, told me my ears are not level. Basically I have a eye condition I have had for 40 plus years and she thinks she knows more about my eye condition. Will not.be using boots ever again. I tried to complain to head office , but nobody is interested, as they just pass the complaint back to the store. So the higher management never find out. She didn't even once apologise, not once.
The eye test itself was fine. I needed two different prescriptions for two pairs of glasses. There was an error for one of the pairs, so after 3 weeks I am still waiting for one pair of glasses and will have to make yet another trip to the store when they turn up. Boots were unable to tell me when this will be. This is not the first time this has happened to me at Boots Basingstoke, so it is highly unlikely I will be going there for my next test.
All staff who dealt with me were very professional, courteous, friendly and kind. They all had good communication skills, particularly Kiara and Carolyn, and Laura the optometrist. Understanding of my particular case was paramount. Well done
The eye test took all of 3 minutes and was as basic as they come. The equipment was old and tattered and there were other people having their eye tests in the same area talking away. The girl doing my eye test was a teenager who had only been working there a week and had to ask others on two occasions how to work the machine.
