I've never had a problem with this branch of opticians, lovely staff, good choice of frames etc and during my last appointment, the staff member calmly told me I needed to go to the eye clinic at the local hospital! I was a bag of nerves and she calmed me down and did her best to reassure me. She rang me a few days later to check I was okay and I updated her that everything was okay! I'll try and find her out name and update this review as she deserves to have that credit!
I found the gentleman in the hearing dep. very helpful when I had trouble with my hearing aid whilst looking was on holiday here in Telford.
Good individual opticians, but run terribly! Its a shame, as previous Boots opticians branches, I have been to have been excellent! Always send my lenses to the wrong place, don't record eye tests properly, so ask for a re-test when not required, don't ring back when they say they will and didn't even tell me once when the optician was off sick until I had come in and got time off work!
Wow, the staff here were incredibly nice and very efficient. We came here after Specsavers were rude to us, and my gosh, ‘Should’ve come to Boots’ much sooner! Really refreshing, simple, fast and friendly service. A small detail: we missed our appointment to collect glasses, but just rocked up a few days later without an appointment and they had us sorted in minutes, no questions asked. In contrast, Specsavers had refused to serve us because we turned up AT the appointment time instead of 10 minutes early.
Had first eye test and when glasses arrived the prescription was not correct, had another test which produced a different prescription ! and given another pair of glasses. Gave these a longer test but still cant use them. Took them back to the shop and they said I was too late for a refund it was 9 months later but most of this time my new glasses had been unused in a drawer as I had reverted to my old glasses. The whole customer experience has left me undervalued and with no confidence with the shop at all. Will NEVER be going back.
Some nice and friendly staff totally let down by their administrative side. They forgot to let me know that my contact lens trial lenses were in the shop, chased twice and eventually after nearly 2 months I picked up my trial. That went well and when I got to the stage of ordering them... they wouldn't, as they had LOST my notes and needed more time to find them. The assistant felt unable to leave the shop floor and look, despite their being four staff on duty 25 minutes before closing and I was the only person in the shop. The optician on duty could have resolved the issue and the assistant did ask but she refused so I left with no contact lenses and unlikely to use them again. UPDATE Been contacted by the store and have received an apology and they are going to try and set things right. Fair play!
Opticians are good but the retail and administration is poor. I left without a prescription and had to ask for it explicitly. Then my prescription had the wrong year on it and had to be reissued. Glasses and lens options are massively overpriced and a poor range. Staff are a little pushy sales wise trying to sell every lens option. Mine were coming out at ovee £370 when I can get similar for less than £200. And don't get me started on the dated look, uncomfortable seating and over clinical feel to the shop....
Such a disappointing experience from start to finish, the wife's glasses needed replacing straight away so took a month from order to receiving, mine needed replacing after 3 months, on both occasions they failed the most basic customer care, a phone call to let us know they were ready. Staff were polite and pleasant, Managers appreciated feedback, but they really need to improve.
Shambolic is an understatement. I went to have my eyes tested and wanted varifocals which I have always had. I asked the consultant about the difference in prescriptive sunglasses and tinted lens. She couldn't remember from her training, so asked a colleague. I was still non the wiser so left that option for the time being. When I collected my glasses I told them they felt too strong but they said to try and get used to them. I tried but felt they were pulling my eyes and they started giving me headaches. I returned and they retested my eyes. I should mention here they couldn't find my notes and I was waiting three quarters of an hour whilst they waded through their shambolic alphabetical filing system. The person who tested me a second time was the same person who tested me first time round and she said she still got the same results but would reduce the strength. I phoned one morning as I was going into Telford to ask if my new glasses were in. They said no, it would take a couple more days. I had to go to Telford anyway, but then whilst I was out, returned to a telephone message to say my glasses were in. This meant another trip to Telford in working hours. My second pair were virtually as bad, I was shocked that Icouldn't read car number plates, whereas with my existing glasses I could.... I returned again to express my dissatisfaction, and was asked to come back in half an hour as they were busy. As they couldn't find my notes on two separate occasions, I suggested they look for them whilst I went to shop. When I returned, I was still kept waiting. I asked for a refund, which they gave to me, but omitted to give me £45 which I had paid extra for my second pair of glasses to have the glass thinned. They said I hadn't paid it. The consultant went off to check, again gone at least 10 minutes while I sat waiting, and in the end went to the counter where there were trying to find a record of my £45 on the computer. In the end, I had to say I had taken time off work, and couldn't stay any longer. I was getting extremely frustrated. I also asked the question of what would happen when I went elsewhere to have my eyes tested, as obviously I had used up my free entitlement twice on unsuitable glasses. They offered to test my eyes again FOC!!!!! Whoever is in charge of this branch, needs to get their staff trained professionally, the whole experience was totally unacceptable, extremely frustrating and resulted in me leaving this negative review. I would not recommend Boots Opticians Telford, I would not trust them to get a prescription correct, and they need to address the issue of their filing system in order to pull out clients' records within a reasonable timescale.
Shocking customer service from the Telford branch. Attended an appointment to be told that the Optician had gone off sick 40 minutes prior. Understand people fall poorly, and I hope she feels better soon. But for the staff to not have called in advance to save me a journey is appalling. I am now lens-less for my upcoming holiday. I've cancelled my contact lens scheme with Boots, and will be going to a smaller independent opticians. Complaint submitted with Head Office, hopefully some lessons can be learnt, and customer service can be prioritised in future.
