If you’re looking for a delicious Indian meal in the heart of Stamford, then look no further than The Bombay Cottage. Established in 1993, this 5-star rated restaurant is situated in a Grade 2 listed building and offers an extensive menu of traditional Indian dishes. I recently visited The Bombay Cottage and was truly blown away by the quality of the food. I started with their Chicken Shani Nariyal which was cooked to perfection and packed full of flavour. For my main course, I had the Tikka Masala - Chicken which was rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice - which was simply divine! The atmosphere at The Bombay Cottage is warm and inviting and the staff are friendly and attentive. They have an excellent selection of wines to accompany your meal as well as a range of beers, spirits and soft drinks. Overall, I had an amazing experience at The Bombay Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious Indian meal in Stamford.
On the recommendation of a friend, I made my first visit. Both the cuisine and the decor are lovely. It was really packed. When we finished eating, the staff was eager to move us on. It was plain to see that they wanted to oust us so they could let more people in. I didn't feel welcome there and I won't be returning.Food: 5/5
Good food, menu slightly confusing as not all dishes are on it Maybe they want you to order more expensive ones? Good portions of rice and curry so all good. Service was quick if waiters were slightly impersonal except guy with beard. Would go again if passing through. Parking: No parking at restaurant
The food is good and we had takeaway, the portions are large which is good because the price is eye wateringly expensive. Some of the dishes were under seasoned this is not a criticism as I find a lot of curries very over seasoned so this was good for me and I could make it how I like it. For the money £17.50 I expected the most amazing curry in the world but eventhough pleasant, 4 large prawns some potatoes and spinach with some spices and tomato didn't compute with me or anyone else. We had garlic chilli chicken which was nice and as it should be, chicken tikka masala and a chicken dansak. I'm just miffed at the cost, these were all way too expensive for what it was in 20 years we will be paying this much but this type of forward thinking is worrying. We got 10%discount for collection.
I was told about this restaurant by my hairdresser and as we are curry lovers we thought we would give it a go. The restaurant was lovely, clean and has a good atmosphere. We had poppadoms, tawa chicken, chicken tikka rogan and a peshawi naan and a spicy paratha. Everything tasted lovely and had good flavour maybe just not spicy enough for me! We really enjoyed it and we had loads left over. The staff was very friendly and helpful and explained all the dishes to us. It was well worth the drive and will definitely be going back again.
Easily the best Indian restaurant in Stamford. Their dishes are exceptional and the quality of the meat is amazing. Staff are also very friendly and welcoming. Would 100% recommend.
This used to be my favourite Indian restaurant in Stamford, up until I ordered a takeaway last Friday. I am vegetarian and have been for many years, so I order on the phone and not via just eat to reiterate my dish is to be just sauce with no meat. I ordered a tikka masala sauce and ate about 1/4 of it. The next day I went to have my leftovers and noticed pieces of chicken in the dish!! I felt sick and then realised had probably eaten small bits of chicken the night before. Disgusting. I threw away the dish and the accompanying dishes because who would eat dry naan and rice? I called them and they proceeded to imply I was lying, as they do not prepare the meat with the sauces. When I responded with the fact I have photos of it, they changed their tone and offered me £10 off my next meal there, I said this wasnt acceptable as I cant trust their food preparation practices anymore and I said I wanted a refund instead. They accepted and I was told I had to come into the restaurant to get this refund, despite the fact I orignally paid over the phone but when I got to the restaurant they tried to refund me only for the sauce but I explained that I couldnt eat any of the meal and I was out of pocket much more than just the sauce. They finally offered a refund of no more than £10 and tried to give cash until I refused and then eventually I was given the refund on my card. Their excuse was the chef had got the order mixed up and this was the reason for the chicken pieces, its very obvious the dish was made with chicken which was removed prior to sending it to me. I am highly allergic to prawns and this would be a different story if these has been incorrectly added. If it was a “kitchen mix up” then I would have had whole bits of chicken in the dish and this would have been a genuine dish mistake and could have been rectified. Watch out, bad food preparation and lazy approach to dietary requirements and allergies.
Went as a group which can make things slow, but not here! All of us were v pleased with what we had ordered. The menu is varied enough but not crazily overful like at some places. The cook can really cook these dishes! Parking: The nearest public car park is free after 6pm.
Wow! The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, and the staff are friendly, polite and attentive. The food was absolutely gorgeous! Would recommend 5/5 stars!!
Used to be a favourite Indian take away, but it's gone down hill considerably. Once you finally get the awful website to process your order, it's over £40 plus delivery for: Garlic nan - freezing cold, not a hint of garlic. Pulao rice - cold. Chicken tikka Rogan - no flavour so lacking in flavour you could taste the chicken "meat" taste, full of bones. Onion Bhaji - cold and rubbery. Sag ponir - cold. The onion salad and mint sauce were alright though if not a bit watery. All of the order ended up in the bin and we've ordered elsewhere. At least our previous order to this was semi-edible. Come on Habib, you used to take pride in the food that left your establishment, what's gone wrong?
