Never been inside but the building is beautiful. The fountains are often on in the evening too.

A good spot for selfie and a group photo
The building is steeped in history,but the staff I cannot find any words to voice my distane for them after I found that they have broken the law's of the land. And broken the data protection act. By selling my details thus keeping me unemployed,and costing me a pension. And I have to say that I have found that the premises is over charging the people of the town to fund the incompetence of the premises.

Beautiful architecture, spacious town hall
I visited this place for a quick coffee and walk around on a sunny day. I must say this is Quite impressive civic buildings. The library with a hidden gem included. A freshwater fish aquarium with species from all over the world that opened in the early 1940's. Still closed due to renovation going on which are delayed due to Covid lockdown situation.
These lot can't even empty the bins that we pay to have emptied, you message them and they tell you that due to operational issues they couldn't be emptied, time for my direct debit to have a few operational issues, too. Disgusting attitude run by disgusting people, no wonder the Town is rife with fly tipping and and all the back streets are filled with rubbish, it's because they charge you for a service that they are too incompetent to supply.
I can only comment on the One Stop Shop part of the Town Hall - the rest is off limits to the public. The staff are always brilliant - helpful, polite and genuinely try to do whatever they can for the public, sometimes under immense pressure. However they are often hampered by the whims of senior management, usually management above the management of the OSS itself. As a result of this they are woefully understaffed. The majority of the most experienced, and hence the most knowledgeable, staff have left over the last few years. There was only 1 member of staff delivering the service I was there to access but fortunately there was virtually no queue so I didn't have to wait long and the staff member did seem to have sufficient knowledge to serve me efficiently. I happen to know that the air conditioning system for the whole building cost over £500k to install around 6 or 7 yrs ago. I don't know what the OSS specific part cost but I don't suppose it really matters as it wasn't turned on today. It was sweltering - not a huge problem for me as I was in and out in under 30mins, but I did feel sorry for the staff who had to tolerate it all day.
Excellent service when renewing a disabled badge. Staff very professional and courteous.
