This was a sold train station for both arrival and departure, where I found the staff to be fine don't know about the other reviews as for the morning ones can't comment as I do not live in Bolton to be there at 7:30. The roofing has a nice structure and the building is stylish, departure boards are kept up to date with info explaining any delays even! Platforms are appropriately sized and the pathway out to the town centre is lovely, really appreciate the train poem displayed here too.
The person who’s supposed to be unlocking the door at 7:30 on a Sunday has been asleep every Sunday now and hasn’t once opened up on time. He’s always opening up 20 minutes late leaving crowd of people outside in the rain with no where to sit. I can tell his been asleep because he walks up to the doors rubbing his eyes, hair messy, none stop yawning. Evidently having just woken up. Absolute joke.
Better than the last time travelling via this station. The refit has definitely improved the station and the WHSmiths shop is a plus. Seating and toilets must be waiting for the next stage of the refit. Staff at the barriers helpful and friendly unfortunately member of staff on the platform useless.
I’ve never had any issues with the station itself. Accessible and they provide long notice before they do any work. Trains are never usually late. Station is clean, facilities are clean and they even have water fill stations for free! The only issue and this has always been an issue is the staff, they’re always and always will be rude. So as long as you speak to none of them, it’s a good station.
Bolton was great, I went straight past it on the train. I'll do that next time I visit.
