This Samuel Smith is a proper traditional pub and like all pubs should be. They don't play music, don't allow phones, messages etc basically it's a pub where you can chat and not have the disturbance of modern day technology. It's a very very old pub but the ales. Ipa's and their selection of Sammy Smiths whiskies and port etc are amazing. I highly recommend visiting and soak in the atmosphere. Me and my mate spoke to the lovely landlady who was sadly finishing after being there for 13 years. It was a great pleasure to have met her and chatted and wish her all the very best. We will be back without a doubt. Well worth a visit if you want a pub that is traditional.
Well kept beer as it always is and although a bit on the very cold side when we arrived it improved as the afternoon went on. At £3 a pint it is virtually half the price of some of the local pubs. It's a proper pub - multi-roomed with a roaring fire in the back room. Good service from very capable bar staff.
Excellent food and service, very nicely presented. Would recommend.
Bar staff, amazing, food great home cooked taste, real chips not your frozen rubbish. It's a shame Sam Smith's brewery were once one of the cheapest pubs to drink in to jump to one of if not the most expensive pubs to drink in over the pandemic, unexplainable!
My boyfriend and I have never been before, it was lovely to be in a old fashioned traditional pub . We had the roast dinner , absolutely lovely. Highly recommend. As a vegetarian the nut roast was nice . Staff were nice too
The pub is very traditional, lovely atmosphere, no TV, no loud music, you can actually have a conversation! The food is excellent, particularly the fish and chips and not over priced.
Always liked the beer, Sam Smiths hand dawn OB bitter immaculately kept. Never got round to trying Sunday lunch till today. Mixed meat option turkey pork and beef was superb. £11.95 for generous portion of meat accompanied by creamy mash, roasties Yorkshire pudding and carrots as well as plenty of greens. On a hot plate aswell so many other places fall down on that detail
Only 2nd time I've visited this pub and Lorraine and all staff made me feel like a regular, excellent beers available from Samuel Smith brewery and ciders and lagers are also available and a well stocked fridge and top shelf, food is served at lunch until 3 and evenings 5pm till 7 , bus stops are a 5 minutes walk away serving Manchester Hyde Ashton under lyne and other out lying towns. Bit of a up hill walk from shopping precinct but you will be welcomed by all staff and customers no matter what time of day well worth a visit ,
This was the first time we decided to have a meal here and if you're happy with good quality pub grub this is the place for you. Aside from the food, the staff we encountered were genuinely friendly and helpful. Great old fashioned pub.
Good old-fashioned boozer with decent pub grub, lovely beer and reasonably priced.
