Not the typical gym, no posers hanging around on equipment updating their Facebook status. This is a no nonsense gym where you work hard and get results. Friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand to give advice or put you through your paces.

A friend persuaded me to come to free taster session at Blyth Barbells & Fitness not long after I turned 40. I was terrified of the very idea, since I was very unfit and certain I'd not be able to keep up. But what I found was a community of friendly, supportive people who enjoy encouraging each other and challenging themselves. BBF provides coaching in functional fitness and olympic style weightlifting. Much of it is delivered in group sessions, but it's carefully and considerately scaled to meet the abilities and aims of individual members. As a result, the effect on my health and fitness has been transformational; in only six months I've developed abilities that I'd never have imagined would be possible in such a short time. If you wish to improve your strength, health and fitness, you couldn't find a more supportive and fun place do do it.

This is a haven not only for budding lifters and motivated people willing to put in hard work, but for those looking for a bit of banter and a laugh. Neil is an all round fantastic coach and person. He is passionate, enthusiastic, genuinely wants to help you and cares! And he has great sense of humour. No matter what level of fitness you are at, Neil can cater for you and help you achieve your goals. I urge you to try Blyth Barbells and Fitness out, have some fun, meet some awesome people and get strong!

Really enjoyable training and classes catering to all levels of ability. Great atmosphere and once you start you want to keep going and you will see amazing progress. So I would recommend everyone looking to train comes and gives it a go if I can do it anyone can.
