We went to the Blenheim for lunch today, as it has recently reopened and it was lovely! Atmosphere was lovely, very child friendly! The food was superb and well priced compared with local chain pubs as I will always try to go local where I can. We will most definitely visit again heard very good reviews of the Sunday dinner! Photos - - Steak Ciabatta - Steak Frites - Ultimate Carnivore They are part way through renovations. However, the change so far is beautiful! Food & drinks: Food and drink is lovely!
Very impressed. Great food, good quality, generous and well presented. 3course lunch time menu was fantastic value. Small car park available, some street parking too. Walkability: Bus stop just a few metres away.
We stayed at the Bleinheim Inn for two nights in July. The Inn itself is a beautiful building with plenty of character. The bedrooms are very spacious, clean and well presented. The food was fantastic! The full english breakfast really hit the spot and the evening menu was great. I highly recommend the black pudding scotch egg starter and the steak for main course - it was absolutely delicious! Richard and the staff were amazing throughout our stay. We were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to all at the Blenheim and we hope to visit you again in the near future.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch 7th July. Richard was so welcoming, food was faultless. Beautiful chicken and delicious pink lamb. Only one thing missing was a roast parsnip!Service: 4/5
I visited with family and friends, the atmosphere was lovely with a modern meets rustic interior and lovely staff, the meal was beautiful with a mix of traditional british pub and european cuisine and enjoyed by all in our party, I would say Blenheim House would be suitable for business occasions, a first date expeirence as well as family celebrations and get togethers. Prices for both the food and drink were reasonable considering how pleasant the establishment is, we will definately be coming back again over the summer to sample the rest of the menu and enjoy all over again.
I can’t review the food as we didn’t stay. If you have small children this place might be fine, but it is no longer a pleasant country pub with cosy seating for a meal or chat with friends. They seem to have turned it into a children’s theme park with brightly coloured plastic chairs and plastic grass on the walls. The television and colouring-in rooms made me feel I was at kindergarten and that my food would arrive already cut up for me. The staff were excellent, young and very welcoming, but I doubt they had much to do as the place was nearly empty. Other reviews seem to be good here so maybe the change of direction is just not for us, but if anyone has not been for a while be aware, it is very different now.
Lovely place to visit. Came with the family. Friendly staff and inviting, unlike it use to be as never really felt welcome. The kids cinema room and colouring area went down a treat as did the outside play area. The food was lovely quality and we didn't have to wait long for food between each serving. The decor was lovely and went well as a theme. The staff were very helpful and couldn't have done anymore to welcome us.
We booked a table here for 18.15 on a Saturday afternoon. We've given it the benefit of the doubt after we visited a couple of months ago. I'm sorry to say it's gone from bad to worse!!! So this time it's pizza only.. no sides !! and when we asked how long it would be if we ordered food all we got was " I'll need to call the chef to see how long he's going to be as he's had to pop out" We also asked if the pizza could be done with a garlic base as my partner can't eat tomatoe based pizzas. To our surprise the chap behind the bar said " all our pizza bases come sauce ready so the chef wouldn't be able to do a garlic base!! Really!!! Is he a chef or just a chap who puts the base under the pizza oven? I'm sorry but needless to say we walked out. To book a table, ask a question regarding the pizza base, to be told that someone would call you back but no-one has then to be told the chef isn't on the premises then that is rubbish !!! A lovely building and local pub ruined by incompetent management!! Avoid at all cost. Your better off spending a little more for a lovely meal in Hilton like we have tonight!! Food & drinks: All I can say is to read my review.
I’m torn about this review, my partner and I visited here around a year a go, we had the most amazing dirty fries for only a fiver so we’ve been meaning to come back. We finally made it back here last week however the pub had changed hands, the menu had changed and the dirty fries were no more this is understandable after a year anyway so I can’t blame them for this. The menu was strange and a little hard to understand I believe we weren’t the only people to think this but they did have a light bites menu 2 for £15 so we decided to order from that, I had the fish basket and my partner had the pit lasagne. The food must’ve taken about 45-50 minutes to arrive we weren’t advised of a wait before hand and there wasn’t that many people there. Whilst we we waiting though we started chatting to some people on a nearby table one of whom turned out to be the new manager of only a week. He was very friendly and helpful and suggested that certain things might make it back into the new menu which made us hopeful for our next visit. When the food finally arrived I was sorely disappointed with mine, it was a very small basket of fries and what looked like a frozen battered Birdseye fish fillet on top. I’m not even sure it was fish inside, it was kind of mushy and tasteless. I understand it’s light bites but it wasn’t worth £7.50, it’s something I could make at home in ten minutes. The fries though were very nice. My partners meal in my opinion was much better value for money, the pit lasagne was kind of like a Mexican flavoured lasagne and was quite nice, and looked like it was freshly made possibly why it took so long to get the food, it came with a good portion of fries and a really really tasty slice of garlic bread. It all seemed homemade, which was the exact opposite of my meal. My partner wasn’t too impressed but I thought his meal was definitely worth the price. I didn’t go inside the pub but I believe it’s all been freshly decorated, the little garden we sat in at the front had been done up too and looked nice. I’m hoping the new manager does good things and next time we go things will have improved and I can change this 3 to a 5 star, it’s a nice pub in a nice location so I’ve got my fingers crossed.
While on a business trip to Derby, I was sent to the Blenheim my by booked hotel due to a delayed flight, and overbooking of the hotel I was supposed to stay at. When I first arrived, it was late at night and I was less than impressed with where I was sent. I was in such a bad mood over the whole thing that I didn't approach the situation with an open mind. Well, that all quickly changed. There is a little pub right at the check-in area and the staff poured me a drink while I was getting checked in. The locals that were in the pub were all extremely nice and welcoming, which made for some great conversation over a couple of drinks. The room itself was nothing fancy but good enough for a night's sleep. The next morning, I got to actually see the charm of this little hotel, something that was missed the night before. The breakfast was great with plenty of coffee to start the day. When I went to check out, the hotel said they would have all my luggage delivered to my originally booked hotel. After a short discussion, I asked if they had my room available for another night and decided to just stay. I am glad I did, turns out dinner at the hotel was amazing too! Next time I am in Derby for work, I will be booking at the Blenheim. All around amazing experience and super nice and helpful staff.
