Great experience collecting all the bits needed for DofE. It was our second time purchasing here and I was equally as impressed with the service. Thank you Simon and Maj you made what could have been a stressful time choosing sleeping bags and getting a backpack fitted into a relaxing experience. We found everything we needed at this store. I definitely recommend.
Good selection of backpacks. I picked up another Osprey backpack having used two in the past from Blacks, both of which still work and are fine. I needed something suitable for travelling abroad so I bought a 65L backpack thanks to the help and guidance of one of the in-store colleagues. Great shop for all your outdoor gear!
Service was excellent. I got everything I needed for Duke of Edinburgh, as well as a lot of useful information and advice. Simon and Maj were very helpful. I recommend going here to anyone shopping for DofE or similar events.
I just remembered at the last minute that there was an Outdoor Clothing and Accessories shop on Tottenham Court Road. Luckily when I entered the shop I found what I was looking for. A selection of waterproof coats and jackets. They are ventilated and are made of a breathable fabric. Essential for keeping your temperature down when you carry a backpack and/or enter a warm building. I had sort of arranged to try on some leather upper walking boots. In the Blacks shop at Saint Paul's. I had heard that the staff had a super good reputation for service. So although I am still not certain about the leather uppers opposed to suede. I have promised myself another visit. Maybe for another item of clothing. All the staff were super helpful and friendly. I was just getting a little bit tired of going into so many Outdoor Sports Clothing shops. And not being able to find the right coat at a competitive price. I was also lucky that the shop had an extension of the Black Friday Sales Event still on. So I was able to save 30-50+% off the normal price. I am also very pleased with the neckerchief scarf that I purchased at the Saint Paul's store. It's not quite the right colour but the pattern is quite special.
I am so sorry for myself to be as a customer in totenham court road branch. I want to inform everyone , stop buying or even going to this branch. The store manager never wear her working badge and stops introducing herself or given her name when you ask. She is very rude, impolite and useless. She was swearing when I had my baby in my hands ,argued with me and trying to kick me out of store. I had a chat with head office and they accepted my request, but when I passed the phone to her for confirmation, she put the phone down .please, be careful when you’re going there. If you check the reviews on store website you can see everyone dissatisfaction. I am so sorry for this company that employe staffs like her which reduce branch and customer service quality.
I have issues with my feet and have struggled to find hiking footwear that fits properly. The store assistant in Blacks was incredibly helpful and patient, providing the most appropriate boots and listening to my issues before making further suggestions. This makes such a refreshing change from the normal quality of help you receive in store. Unfortunately I didn't take his name to give him a proper shout out.
Went to buy a Rab eco waterproof jacket. I tried on two colors and decided to buy one of them. I politely asked them if they price-match with some online-first stores in London, to which they refused. I decided to buy anyway. While checking out, a male employee condescendingly "asked" me if I wanted to zip up the one color that I had decided not to buy. I had already placed the jacket back in the right place, just forgotten to zip it up because I was in a hurry. His face was like and I felt really uncomfortable. He could have asked me politely but he chose not to do so. I told him that their request and the manner in which it was conveyed was a bit unreasonable as I was paying 40 pounds more than the online prices to buy at their store and they had refused to price-match with Amazon, Nevisport etc. In return they could help me zip up the one jacket I didn't decide to purchase or at least talk to me me in a more respectful way. But no, the guy looked at me very aggressively and told me that they have a "standard to maintain" at the shop. They have 4-5 staff members and this is what they decide to do with a paying customer. I felt really appalled by his tone of voice and customer service, and when I complained to one of the cashiers', she repeated the same thing and told me that I could leave and buy online instead. While leaving, the other staff members told me to "never come back". I have never heard this statement ever from anyone in my whole life in any situation. Please don't go to this store. You're paying 50% higher than Amazon prices for no service and just to get humiliated by the staff. I've been to Cotswolds Outdoor, Mountain Warehouse and other chains in the area and never experienced anything like this. The staff here is pathetic.
Bought my first hiking boots. One of the customers was a lovely lady who advised me what to look for. The staff were overall friendly but not very helpful despite I mentioned I need advice. Store offers some good brands but at the time I was shopping there's a lot of sizes missing. The boots seems sturdy and I hope waterproof. Not sure if I'd come back in the future to this particular store.
Great service from Peggy. Professional, friendly and really knew her stuff when I needed help choosing a suitable jacket for high fell walking. Thanks
Seems to be closing down but that has been there for a while so ‍ Good selection of outdoor equipment. I have purchased my Scarpa from here and the customer service is great.
