Central location, was great to feel part of the town for one night. Nice size room on the top floor out of the way with our family. It was the same guy who saw us in, did our breakfast & saw us out. Which was nice & even better, our son left his very special teddies there & they messaged us & sent it back to us within the day. Amazing! Stay here for the human touch.
This has to be the worse place I've stayed in. The room was cold with no heating. No tv. Curtains were filthy. Bathroom was a joke. Shower not working. Toilet seat broken. Carpet dirty. Bed was something from the 70's. Bedding was smelly. The only saving grace the staff were polite
It seems this was once quite a comfortable hotel, sadly it appears little is done to maintain it. Honestly needs a deep clean in the rooms and corridors, touch points were disgusting in places. Friendly staff but that was the only plus point tbh. Breakfast ok, but little choice, and non descript cereals with no allergens displayed could of been anything. The bar was sticky and smelt bad, and the Saturday night cliental drunk, rude and gobby.
Unfortunately this was a little bit of a disappointment. A lack of choice on the lunchtime menu especially for children. I had the fish and chips. Chips were a bit on the cardboardy side to be honest. Batter around the fish was crispy, though the fish itself was a bit thin. The mushy peas not for me. Also a lack of choice of ales. Unable to comment on the rooms as i only popped in for lunch.
An interesting old pub but the decor has seen better days. My single room was comfortable. An excellent shower in en-suite, but it took a long time for water to get hot. Would have been nice to have cafetière of coffee at breakfast rather than sachet of instant coffee.Rooms: 4/5
Good central location. Nice room, lovely shower and an excellent breakfast.
The Hotel's location, rooms and service were super. I am making them down because of the meals. They were a cross between school dinners and Wiltshire farm foods. Vegetables overcooked oven chips and small sizes. A lack of presentation. The breakfasts were better. I enjoyed the vegetarian sausages but the so called cooked tomato was mostly raw with scorch marks on the top. I mark them a 3 because unlike myself, for quite a lot of people the meals are of greater importance.
We just had the most AMAZING Sunday lunch! It was so perfect...melt in the mouth beef, fabulous roasties and all the trimmings were spot on. Great value. Lovely setting. My only complaint is that I have no room for dessert
The pub was alright but the accommodation was bad. We had room 6 which was right at the front at the top. The stairwell and room was musty and the twin single beds were awful. The mattress was rock solid on a falling apart bed. A single flimsy duvet. No sheets. The headboard not even attached. The doors to the other rooms were open and look better than room six. Did they give us this room because we used booking . Com. Nice enough chap showed us to the room and again he was there last thing at night and first thing in the morning. There was no hot water feed to our sink. Literally no hot water except the electric shower. Clean bathroom but the room was so out dated. The TV had limited signal through free view and kept tuning out. No matter as it was only a 12 inch TV anyway. We didn't risk breakfast and decided on a cafe down the road. The car park was hard to find behind the hotel and couldn't see any signage until on top of it. I wouldn't recommend this place for accommodation but the beer was nice. Not worth the money that are asking. Terrible nights sleep for £65. If it was £25 a night I'd understand.
Went for a Sunday lunch with one celiac diner. Food came out with Yorkshire pudding, frozen but cooked potatoes and cauliflower cheese contaminating everything. Seemed absolutely clueless about dietary requirements despite website indicating an ability to cater for this. It was exasperating! Food generally was .....meh, wouldn't go again. Sent back non celiac food twice and told them not to bother. Then turned up with a third microwave version! Incredulous!!
