A pleasant country pub/restaurant with rooms in Clifton on the outskirts of Brighouse. Lovely interior decor with a modern rustic feel. We were in the Burgundy bedroom, in the building next to the pub, which was a large and bright room with a low traditional beam running through the middle, I am 5'5" and could just walk under it, but my 6' husband had to remember to duck, it had a large king sized bed and a lovely white tiled bathroom with shower, which all looks new. However, there were several things broken, ie. The toilet seat, the tap was loose, the lock on the small wardrobe door was hanging off and was difficult to close. There was Lakeland coffee maker and 4 pods but we were unable to get hot water for the tea bags or sachets of coffee. I mentioned this to the proprietor and she arranged for a kettle to be left in the bedroom, however, this only worked if you kept your finger on the button. I was also slightly disappointed with the breakfast. We ordered a vegetarian breakfast with mixed brown and white toast. It took quite a while to be served, despite it not being busy, the tea was only look warm, not hot, and I had to ask for the toast, which the waitress got wrong. I also thought the portion size was small and the vegetarian sausages were cheap ones. I noticed that the waitresses were not very attentive, not clearing dirty dishes away, letting people sit with dirty dishes piled up instead of removing them once finished, not checking if customers needed anything etc etc. Although it was a lovely place and the staff were friendly, things need to be tightened up, both in the rooms and the staff training. I don't think it was worth £129 per night as it is.
Lydia and her team were amazing on our wedding day Everything was organised and we had the best day. Food was amazing and the bridal suote-deluxe room was stunning! We cannot wait to return for pur 1st anniversary.Rooms: 5/5
We booked to stay on a Sat night after a wedding locally. Website looked good but sometimes in the flesh things are not as good. This is definitely not true of The Black Horse and Bert's Rooms. Such a friendly welcome, very accommodating as we arrived earlier than check in and shown to a very lovely room. Clean as a whistle, towels, robes, slippers, kettle AND nespresso coffee machine with all trimmings. Huge bed, gorgeous en-suite. We were well impressed! Breakfast in morning was waitress served, plenty of choice, well cooked and presented. Great value for money all round. The owners clearly know how to run a pub with rooms professionally, hospitably and successfully. Would definitely recommend. Thank you
Rooms lovely though no overnight stay on this midweek occasion, food excellent as always. Disappointing that we weren't in main pub for food and in a rather soul less room next door where they do breakfast for staying guests at other times Book to eat here for the character and ambience, so disappointing. Food and service excellent still.
Sited on a fairly quiet road, we used their function room for a wake, food was excellent and the staff went above any expectationsService: 5/5
Lovely pub, great place to eat and drink. Staff were friendly and attentive. Have the steak pie, it was one of the best I've ever had.Rooms: 5/5
I have visited a couple of times now for Sunday lunch. I have always found the the staff welcoming & friendly. Always doing their best to accommodate your needs. The Sunday lunch on the occasions that I have been, has been beautiful. Vegetables fresh, meat tender. I hove to say a big Thank you to Jane, who went out of her way to accommodate our seating arrangements on Sunday. Thank you. We’ll definitely be back.
If you’re looking for a great place to stay in Clifton, look no further, this fantastic ,family run B&B, restaurant and pub is very charming with great service. We had a fantastic room with a gorgeous free standing bath, it was the perfect, romantic get away, I would highly recommend. 10/10Rooms: 5/5
Outstanding venue for a relaxing break. Fantastic room with all the amenities you will want. Great food in a small dining area but still spacious enough. Will definitely be returning soon for another break. Staff were both friendly and helpful, service very efficient, only disappointment no decent bourbon. Would recommend to anyone.
Attended a lovely wedding here but didn't stay over so can't comment on the roomsService: 5/5
