Lived near and worked in Sheffield and never knew about this place. If you have an hour or so to use them try here. About 500 years old and well worth a visit. Not much parking though. Free entry.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A beautiful old house, a survivor of times long past, a credit to Sheffield City for maintaining it and for free entry.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
Very interesting property. It's nice to walk inside in the uneven floors and get a taste of the past. Information displays in all rooms and informative friendly guides in hand to answer any questions. Makes you wonder how this beautiful old property survived in tact in the heart of built up Sheffield.
An amazing place with lots of historical items inside. Its very interactive with signs explaining what each of the items are and some of them can be touched. I've been before to watch a historical knight battle and it was great! Its located in Meersbrooke park and is very close to a grassy hill with a view of the city. There are also 2 playgrounds; one behind it and one down the hill. I would definitely recommend visiting this place!
Was born in Sheffield been past and never been till today what a fantastic place will go again and take my granddaughter to get dressed up the volunteers were really nice I would highly recommend going here
The best preserved timber framed house in Sheffield. The earliest part of the house dates to 1554, owned by the Blythe family and has been added to, adapted and constantly occupied until 1976. It is now open as a museum of life in 17th century. Entry is free and though the site is small, it is definitely worth a look in. There is plenty to look at and it is fairly interactive for children. There is plenty of information available in each room, though the steep stairs and uneven flooring makes it not too disabled friendly.
Very interesting house to visit, volunteers very attentive. Well set out and plenty of interest for all ages. Also has Meersbrook park to wander through afterwards.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Magnificent. Interesting and beautifully looked after. If you live in Sheffield and have a sense of wonder about history then this Tudor building is an absolute must. Lovely staff too.
Took our 4 year old there and had a great time. Medieval knights fighting with a great variety of weapons- what boy wouldn't love it? The house is also interesting and small so keeps their attention. The fact it's set in a park is a bonus with a playground and you can take a picnic. Please like helpful reviews.
An interesting and free though they do ask for donations place to visit. A very old building with several very old artifacts inside. You wander round at your own pace, 30-45 mins will allow you time to take it all in. Young kids can try and find all the model mice hidden in the house. Also worth a wander down the park for a good view of Sheffield and there's also a fitness/assault course down there for those who fancy a go. Some on road parking, might be tricker on busy days. We managed fine on a Sat in Nov.
