Amazing, well kept gardens. A little expensive at £16 per adult but ticket is valid for return visits over a year. We visited on a very hot day but plenty of shade. Lovely peaceful areas. Lots of areas of interest at every turn. Very helpful, friendly staff. Excellent cafe. I thoroughly recommend a visit and will certainly return.
A lovely relaxed stroll around pretty gardens. You pay once for a year membership and that means you can keep going back. Which is nice to do as you will see how the plants change across the seasons. Friendly staff. And a nice cafe Or you could eat your own food in the gardens I love spending an hour or two here.
One of my favourite places to visit both for the Palace buildings and the exquisite gardens. Allow yourself a good two or three hours as this experience is not to be rushed. They put on a lot of events so check online before you go to see what's happening. Lots of open spaces and a play area for the littlies., and the ducks and swans are always a favourite. There is a cafe on site, but also plenty of places to eat in the Market Square. Highly recommended
Great place to visit, there is Cafe and toilets before you get to the paid entry part tickets were £16 adult at time. The house is interesting fo look around, amazing ceilings and fireplaces, wood and stone carvings, art, portraits of Bishops. The gardens were main reason to visit, they are quiet, well maintained, full of vivid colours in summer, plus there are some plants that are labelled so you can see what they are. Tempted to get annual membership just for the gardens..
Beautiful gardens with moat, and reflecting ponds. The intact part of the Palace is interesting with lots of periods of architecture park and beautiful ruins outside which you will probably recognise from Hot Fuzz. The price of the ticket can be turned in to a year pass on the day so if you were visiting the area, and like we did came back for a second visit in the week it is worth doing. The cafe was excellent.
Beautifully laid out walled gardens with specimens trees, crystal clear waters, and a deep sense of history, it's surroundings and views being those of Medieval Wells. Splendid in eavery season and a fun play park for children too. A yearly pass is excellent value if you are a local.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Wells is a beautiful location for a day trip, but the Bishops Palace and Gardens is something else. I found the gardens far more impressive personally though, beautiful, peaceful with unbelievably crystal clear waters. Steeped in history it’s a wonderful day out. On-site there is a cafe and within the gardens a play area for children from about age 5 upwards. Once you have purchased a ticket it is valid for the entire year, and we will definitely visit again.
A day trip out for my birthday with my elderly Mum and sister. A great easy walk which allows dogs. The plants are fabulous. Almost prehistoric as the size of some are huge ! Lovely day and made my birthday
Beautiful calm, very well maintained space. My children love the play area and the trails that are provided to find different images around the gardens and tick them off on a list. If you are local the 'peoples ticket' makes this a really nice economical, regular day out. I feel there is something here for everyone.
One of not many Bishop's Palaces with preserved interiors and with the highest value artifacts. Beautiful Gardens on site. Great experience is to visit the place during Festive period when Palace is decorated in Victorian style and Gardens becomes Enchanted Garden with very atmospheric Christmas Lights Trail! ‍
