Never sure about this place as I always have mixed thoughts but had really good experience with the staff at the surgery today. I rang for a face to face appointment with doctor. Was told they were all gone which is not unusual, but then receptionist said I'll double check, but they were all gone. Then I had a phone call from her which I missed then followed by a text to say they had a cancellation for today. I found the receptionist very polite and helpful and thoughtful enough to consider contacting me to let me know. Sometimes some people would possibly wait and leave appointment for next person to ring.
I called the receptionist to schedule an appointment, but unfortunately, her behavior was far from professional. She was impatient, dismissive, and did not handle my inquiries appropriately. This lack of professionalism was very disappointing, and I expected much better. I hope this matter is addressed promptly and improvements are made.
After trying to get an appointment for over a year I eventually got one through the hep of a nurse doing a medication review over the phone but now I have had that appointment and need another appointment to review new medications and renew fit note it's the same issue can't get one unless I wake up at 7 am to call which is not an option to me due to medication so I'm stuck again and my fit note has ran out and can't get any more of the medication I need untill I see a doctor.nnIt's a joke to expect someone with seriouse sleep issues to be able to phone at 7 am.nnNow trying to find another doctor's in birtley that will understand people's issues and time schedule.
Got to birtley medical Center 6:30 am today to get a appointment as I’m in serious pain of my right ear so when they open at 7 am, I managed to get an appointment for 8:40, got the GP book my registration in,after wait for 40 minutes for my appointment I went to see the person behind the desk about what’s happening with my appointment where she couldn’t give me any straight answers so I asked her to speak with the manager. The manager came over telling me I was put in an emergency appointment. What was a totally surprise, and when I questioned why she said the person who booked my appointment mess up,Okay I ask when am I getting appointment then because I have commitments and the Reception manager, Shred her shoulders saying I can’t give you an answer when I asked so I’m going to be here all day because of a mistake made by you?? She apologise but there was nothing she could do. I have to wait until someone is available. I said to her, I’m going to complain about this. She replied smirking go for it. When I request her name, she refuse to give her name Only when I said you are obliged to give me your name, she give me her first name AndreaReception manager.This person Andrea Foxbecause I manage to find her surname online shouldn’t work for NHS at all She don’t have any human skills even less to be a manager?! Andrea FOX you should be ashamed of yourself as a person.
Attended birtley surgery today 8th October, was seen by Dr Jack Midgley, who was very understanding regarding my illness, and ever so helpful. Came away feeling more positive. Then later in morning Dr Midgely phone me , telling me how to take my medication, which I thought was very kind of him, obviously he had talked of my problem. I have been with birtley medical for 60 years, and have never had a problem with any of Doctors or staff, Thankfully I dont visit regularly, but when I do find doctors very understanding and they do listen to your problem.nJust had to give this review, As I find birtley medical do there best in the circumstances, Thankyou.
