This is a very good experience. This hostel is above hostel standards in terms of cleanliness, location, and service. The staff is great and friendly! I recommend you visit it; it is a great stay for 1 - 2 days. The surroundings are a bit dark at night, but the atmosphere is safe. My best recommendation: "I would come back without question". Bring your own lock to lock the room lockers. Other than that the hostel has new facilities and the rooms are clean! Shared clean kitchen, free toasts in the morning and coffee. Clean rooms and toilets. Perfect for 1 or 2 nights. Friendly and helpful staff, nice environment. 5 min walk to the coach station. You get a code to access to the hostel 24hrs.
4 star by hostel standards. Private single room is about the size of a cell for a very well behaved prisoner, plus en suite. Walls of the room were all scuffed up and chipped which added to this ambience. Check-in was easy. Good shower. Came with multiple clean towels. Comfy bed. One of the plug sockets didn't work. Room comes with a little kettle, mug and tea / coffee making equipment which again, adds to the lovely prison theming. Did not use communal spaces. Location feels sketchy but I'm not sure if it actually is or is just industrial. Has some nice street art.
Hands down the best Hostel. It's well located specifically if traveling by coach or even train. The staff are amazing, the beds are comfortable and rooms are really clean. If they did a subscription, I will be first in line. They should definitely open up in more locations! Rooms: Top notch and clean Walkability: Very central
I recently stayed at the hostel with my friend. We had one of the shared rooms. For a hostel, it was very cleanly, staff are lovely and it has a warm, welcoming atmosphere & the prices are fabulous! The other people who stayed here at the hostel greeted us and made me feel at home. The only downside is not the hostel but the surrounding area but it is only a short walk away from the Birmingham centre. For my first hostel experience, it was certainly a positive one! I will definitely be making a return. Thank you so much! Nearby activities: Train station, shopping centre, markets ect
Very very nice and welcoming service! Super friendly atmosphere! Clean bathrooms and kitchen. Breakfast is included but in the room I was staying it was a bit smelly: that’s the only bad thing about the hostel. Thanks a lot! Recommend to stay in!:Rooms: 3/5
This hostel is okay but not great. I felt a bit unsafe walking alone in the area at night but during the day it’s okay. Other than that the location is okay, it’s a few minutes walk to the next bus stop. The rooms are good but the beds aren’t very comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend the hostel for a solo traveler looking to make new connections. There is a good kitchen and dining room, but the hostel is more used by older people who work in the city. So not very social. Apart from that the hostel is an okay place to stay at for some nights.
All in all quite alright to catch some sleep. But it was really chilly in the bedroom and in the kitchen. Furthermore the bedroom was musty and a bit run down. At night it was really loud, because of the nightclub next door… But the location was really good, because it is next to the shopping centre and the city centre 15 minutes walk to train station The kitchen had everything you need and it was really clean. The seating area next to the kitchen was quite busy, especially in the morning and the evening. The complimentary breakfast toast, fruits, coffee, tea was really good! Very friendly staff who was happy to help!
The location is not ideal due to the area, but you can manage because it's not far from the main street to jump on. It's 4 minutes away from the coach station and about 15 minutes from the train station and city center walking. The service is up and above. They are all very polite and helpful. You can buy drinks in the reception, they are serving free breakfast in the morning and there's a kettle with tea and coffee to prepare in the room, also a towel. The rooms inside are reflecting the price for the accommodation. They are not the best, but beds and sheets are clean. There are bathrooms in the corridors and lockers for bigger luggage. Overall, you are getting what they are promising. It's good for overnight stay or if your funds are limited. I would definitely recommend it.
Only a few minutes walk to public transport & the centre. Super clean, lots of showers, free breakfast, onsite bar, great kitchen with fridge storage, large shared space for watching tv, eating etc Bag storage & really friendly staff that go out of their way to be helpful Loved it Rooms: Clean & comfy only one floor up Nearby activities: A few minutes walk from a host of activities Safety: 60yrs old female & travelled alone. I felt really safe Walkability: Public transport & city centre a few minutes away.
Appalling customer service. I had booked two nights to attend a family wedding but as it turned out to be at 2pm, I tried to cancel the first night but was told it was non-refundable. I turned up as planned on Saturday 2nd March only to be told 'you're a no show' repeatedly by two members of staff because I hadn't turned up on the Friday evening. I repeatedly said that I wasn't a no show because I was here as planned to stay. I was told I should have phoned them yesterday to advise I wasn't coming that evening - I said I had phoned previously as above. I have never heard of a second night's accommodation getting cancelled because someone didn't attend the first night - surely this must happen all the time due to sickness, change of plans etc. If I have paid for a service I expect to be able to access it, that is a very basic element of running a business surely!!! After maybe 10-15 minutes of this ridiculous circular conversation, a second member of staff agreed a 'full refund - which we wouldn't normally do in this situation'. They actually only refunded one night so not a 'full refund' at all. I was then left at 4pm with no accommodation, no help in finding alterative accomodation, with an evening wedding event I was supposed to be attending and a two hour drive from my house!!! Refunding one night's accommodation in no-way compensated for this, my partner spending £40 on a train home due to the changed plans and me having spent 45 minutes driving the short very congested route from the wedding venue to the hostel. There was no apology whatsoever from the staff and their attitude was really poor - this is clearly a mistake by the hostel and not me!! Avoid!!! PS The response from the hostel proves my point really - why on earth would they assume if I have missed the first of a two night stay that I was definitely not coming for the second night, particularly as they have a no cancellation policy and I had spoken to them previously about being unable to cancel the first night. As per my earlier comment, sickness or changes to plans must often mean people don't attend one out of two or more nights booked accommodation. The hostel staff obviously could have contacted me themselves on the Friday if they wanted to clarify this, rather than without my permission or knowledge cancelling the Saturday booking. As per my original comment, as I had paid to stay there on the Saturday, I expected to be able to do this. I absolutely do not see the refund as a 'gesture of goodwill' and I have still not had an apology for the hostel leaving me high and dry at 4pm on the day of a family wedding a two hour drive from my house. Noteworthy details: Appalling customer service and attitude of staff
