I travelled from Birmingham Airport to Edinburgh. I got dropped off near car park 5 where there is a 10 minute free drop off. It was a short 5 minute walk to the terminal. I'd already checked in on the app and got my boarding card. Because I had no large bags to check in, I headed straight for security. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish to get through. Apart from removing my belt and suit jacket, my laptop and other electronic devices could stay in the bag. Once I entered the departure lounge, I headed to one of the many stores that sell a meal deal. I grabbed one off those, ate it and headed to the gate. I waited around 40 minutes before we boarded the Easy Jet flight. It was pretty seamless from arrival at the airport to departure.
The airport is not really good. But the transport to and from the airport is really good. Apart form that really basic , the management is really poor you have to wait in long queues for the security checking which is not really great and people literally just jump the line while you wait in line like a fool. But the have an air rail link from the airport to the station which is really nice and great connectivity from the airport. They have some restaurant and a dutyfree. Overall it's not really great.
Birmingham Airport is a nice, clean place that’s really easy to get to. There are lots of well-known brand stores and other things to check out, so it’s a good spot to pass the time before boarding. Today, I had a smooth experience with EasyJet. It only took about 25 minutes to reach my gate, and everything was straightforward and well-organized. Overall, it’s a comfortable airport that makes traveling easy!
I had the opportunity to use the prayer rooms at Birmingham Airport and was pleased with the overall experience. The airport offers two prayer rooms, each catering to the spiritual needs of travelers. The first prayer room is conveniently located on the ground floor of the terminal building. It's well-equipped with cupboards available for each faith, which is a thoughtful touch for securely storing religious items. The nearby WUDU facilities make it easy for Muslim travelers to perform ablution before prayers, adding to the convenience and practicality of this space. The room is clean, quiet, and provides a peaceful environment for reflection and prayer, which is much appreciated amidst the hustle and bustle of airport travel. The second prayer room is located on the International Pier, just past the Departure Lounge opposite gate 48 and the toilet facility. While this room lacks the cupboards and WUDU facilities found in the first prayer room, it still offers a serene space for prayer. Its location is ideal for travelers who have passed through security and need a moment of spiritual focus before their flight. The room is quiet and well-maintained, providing a tranquil environment that allows for undisturbed prayer. Overall, Birmingham Airport has done a commendable job in providing these prayer rooms for travelers. The facilities are clean, accessible, and well-thought-out, ensuring that travelers of all faiths have a place to fulfill their spiritual needs.
Not the most glamorous or modern of airports but functional and offers a wide range of global flights. Easy access from all over the Midlands. Could do with more shops and things for passengers to do. However does the job and plenty of parking options.
Quite frankly one of the worst airports in the UK, and possible the world. If you like queuing and then running to your departure gate this is the airport for you. Birmingham Airport was meant to open a new security hall in June 2024, 6 months later and it's half open, but the airport is still a building site. Endless queues and Airport staff manhandling people. A grand total of 75 minutes from the beginning of the queue to reaching departures. 8 shiny new security scanners, yet only 4 working. This used to be a fairly good airport but standards have continued to slip. The management team must take accountability for the continued failings of BHX. The fact this is an 'international airport' that offers an abysmal customer experience is embarrassing.
Check in and security check not on the same floor, very confusing. Small airport vs large groups of passengers. Now the airport under construction a bit chaotic
New bag scanners were too effective with long queues at security but it's better to be safe rather than sorry. Birmingham international airport is still a great place to fly from with plenty of destinations. It's also very close to Birmingham International rail station as well as the NEC and Resorts World Shopping Outlet so what's more to want for...
Birmingham Airport BHX serves as a major gateway to the Midlands and beyond, offering a well-rounded travel experience for both domestic and international passengers. The airport is known for its efficient layout, making navigation relatively easy despite its bustling nature. Check-in and security processes are generally smooth, though peak times can see longer waits. The terminal is equipped with a good range of amenities, including various dining options that cater to different tastes and dietary needs. Retail outlets provide a decent selection of goods, from travel essentials to luxury items. The airport’s lounges are comfortable, offering a quiet retreat with complimentary snacks and beverages for those seeking a more relaxed pre-flight experience. Public transportation links are excellent, with a dedicated train station and frequent bus services connecting the airport to Birmingham city center and other regional destinations. Parking facilities are ample and well-signposted, offering various options to suit different budgets and durations of stay. Birmingham Airport provides a reliable and user-friendly experience, with continuous efforts to improve and expand its services to meet the needs of an increasing number of travelers.
Why can't you rate it zero star...we have used this airport loads of times but this is now terrible, they have taken out the escalators up to the security checks and fitted massive claustrophobic lifts that they squeeze like 30 people into, after queuing for an eternity.. then to stand in an endless queue to get through the security checks.....this place has gone backwards..
