 5 Stars – Based Purely on the FoodnnI’m giving The Bird in Hand 5 stars purely for the food, because it truly was outstanding. Compliments to the chef! I highly recommend the starter platter to share – it was absolutely delicious – and the satay chicken skewers were divine. The young barman was also very polite, kind, and welcoming, and he made wonderful passion fruit martinis. We also enjoyed some lovely Prosecco.nnI have visited The Bird in Hand before, and at the time I felt the atmosphere was a little awkward, almost as though I wasn’t particularly welcome. My friend chose the pub to celebrate her birthday, and I’m glad she did, because again the food was fantastic.nnHowever, I do feel it’s worth mentioning that the two ladies on the bar and taking orders did not seem very welcoming. To be totally honest, we found them a little abrupt and somewhat rude, which was disappointing.nnIt’s a shame, because I have often heard wonderful things about The Bird in Hand, and I completely agree that the food is out of this world. But personally, I feel it has more of a locals’ pub atmosphere, where regulars seem more welcomed than visitors. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that warm welcome ourselves.

Booked out the restaurant from 12.30pm to 3pm on Sunday for a large family gathering.  Warm welcome, wonderful service, and plenty of room for our group of 26 and great value for money.nSunday roasts were excellent, good portion size and tasty, other menu options ordered and all meals served around the same time which was amazing for such a large group.  Puddings are delicious, would recommend the banoffe pie.nMany thanks to Lisa and the team, we'll definitely be returning and recommending to others.

Excellent. Stopped here for dinner and it was excellent. The food tasted lovely, massive portions and fast service. The lady behind the bar was very helpful and friendly. The nachos were fantastic with lovely flavour. The décor was typical pub and the place was clean and tidy. Overall highly recommend!!!

Lovely staff, always feel very welcome from the bar staff especially Ethan. Very warm & welcoming atmosphere. Definitely recommend the roast beef on the Sunday's.

I came here with my friend for her birthday with her little girl as well. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is amazing especially the desserts. The restaurant area is small so I imagine booking would be a good idea at busier times.
