Attended at the auction house to pick up a few lots. The auction house didn’t open until 09:30 hrs which was the time of my pre -arranged collection appointment. I arrived early about 09:10 hours. One of the staff found me waiting outside invited me in and I could see that my lots were waiting for me already laid out. The organisation was better than a lot and was very much appreciated- the same chap brought me some boxes and bubble wrap. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault at all but importantly the items I purchased were in superb condition almost exclusively Ray Finch. It won’t be the last time I visit. Sure the surrounds an old school was not a stunning new building but it doesn’t matter - the staff and the lots they are auctioning are far more important.
Not able to go to the sale room on sale day don't like online bidfing
My wife has sweet spot for Bigwoods and makes a point of viewing every catalogue. Mark is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Buying on saleroom makes it very easy to bid on things too.
It's an auction room, with friendly and helpful staff, nothing much else to say.
Overall, not a bad auction house. 19% plus vat; quite competitive. Don't bid in person, though....the auctioneer is soooo slow, probably the slowest in the country.
Has to be one of the worst auction houses in the country. Drive a couple of hours for a viewing and you will find there are no toilets available to customers, how charming. Don't even waste your time asking for a condition report, if you are lucky enough to receive one it will be utterly worthless. Incredibly unhelpful. Decided after all that to take the plunge and bid online..... Done again, because the price offered online is never dropped to what is being offered in the room, estimate 200 - 300, offered in the room at 120 online stays asking 200, this happens with all lots. Internet always comes last, room bids take precedence. If you are not in the room they really don't care, you are the last resort, but you will have to overpay to get that item. Go to collect your item because you just had to have it.......... They treat you like you are there to rob the place. so much trouble to deal with the customers who are supplying them with a living. Just don't bother is my advice, there are so many auction houses around now all who offer internet bidding which is not skewed to the favoured few. And who actually want your business, and who care about customer service.
I have dealt with Bigwoods as a seller on several occasions over the past 10 years. I have always found them helpful, knowledgeable and easy to deal with...remarkably accurate valuations as well. I have no connection with them other than as a very satisfied customer.
Collected a few antique item's from a recent sale, delivered to customers in Evesham & Faringdon by Bespoke furniture delivery.
When you have a dispute with Bigwoods, they are prone to spreading muck about you to other auction houses falsely claiming that you do not pay; be warned, not a good place to buy if you expect your legal rights to be upheld. I bought and they provided their own shipping service at their insistence. The item never arrived and went to the other side of Europe in fact. Their shipping, their problem, not mine, right? Wrong! In the end I got my money back but had to fight for it and only got it after Citizens Advice / Trading Standards got involved.
I had a pleasant experience here, found all the staff really helpful and friendly. I have read the negative reviews but all the other customers I met there praise them and many have been going there for years and I also saw many people get household objects like tables for £5.
