I wouldn’t recommend living in the Biggs Building or any building managed by Downtown Rentals. Management is disorganized, no one ever has the answers to your questions, and they completely stopped cleaning the common areas still in the middle of a pandemic! shortly after we moved in 10 months ago.  We’re very excited to be moving out, but unfortunately were informed just yesterday that despite our lease ending on July 9 we have to pay a full month’s rent but won’t have access to the unit after July 9 at 12 pm. The legality of charging rent for days that a tenant won’t have access to the unit is shady at best. Our move out packet also mentioned internet equipment that never came with the unit but we are expected to be leaving in the unit, even though we bought that equipment ourselves internet router. Don’t forget the mandatory cleaning fees that they take out of your deposit as well! Those were also news to us. Big surprise, when we went into the office to discuss this with them no one in the office knew any information and they had to contact their supervisor,  who they couldn’t give any contact information for, so we’re sitting in limbo waiting to hear back.  Like I said, I don’t recommend renting from Downtown Rentals unless you want a huge headache moving out, and to have them overcharge you during the move out process.

This review is specifically for Daniel maintenance supervisor and Lawrence maintenance tech. Both of these amazing guys have been helping at The Argon apartment homes for the past few weeks while our maintenance supervisor is out Jan 2022. They were both kind and explained what needed to be done, how long it might take, and they both made extra trips to get the parts they needed. The jobs were done quickly and done well. Daniel even cleaned his fingerprints off of the access panel to our heater, which he absolutely did not have to do. Great people and they treat people right. A+

I would give it zero stars if I could, absolute apartment from h3ll. This was the worst place I've ever lived in Richmond.  It would get up to 87 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment, the leasing office said there was nothing wrong with the AC, it was set to 68 there was no temperature control so obviously is wasn't working right.  This happened anytime the temperature outside got above 85 . They blamed it on the windows plenty of places have big windows and not this problem, they said our AC unit was already a large one for the space obviously not large enough.  Eventually the leasing office started ignoring our emails about it. My pet almost got heatstroke and I had to take them to my parents 4 hours away cause I was so worried.  Even with box fans, and black out curtains we bought it was still getting upwards of 83. it was awful living in that heat every day in the summer, and they did absolutely nothing to even try to fix it.  It shouldn’t even be legal for them to rent out units that have no temperature control, especially without disclosing how hot it gets in the summer with the ac on full blast.

This is my second year living here and I really enjoy it. We have a giant window in the apartment which allows us to never really turn the lights on, we have "trash fairies" so you just put your trash outside the apartment door and someone comes to pick it up, and maintenance is so fast to respond to any issues with the apartment. You can put in the service request on any weekday, and they will be there the following day fixing the issue. There was an issue for a while with packages getting stolen due to the camera not working, so I just started using amazon lockers down the street. and the office downstairs is only helpful if you go talk to them in person because they won't respond to your emails. But other than that, rent is great and the apartment room itself rarely has any issues

Avoid at all costs. The building is incredibly outdated. The "common" room was closed for 6 out of 8 months that I was a resident here, with no repairs being done except to remove everything out of it. The mail room is a hole in the wall where they throw everyone's packages, and don't care if it gets stolen. The office is incredibly slow to communicate, and often ignores your emails. They tripled my water bill the month I was to move out, and did not respond to my inquiry to see accounting for that. Don't expect your security deposit back.

My apartment is a great size. I have a two bed, two bath so they have great sized apartments for a smaller price then what you would find anywhere else near campus. Just be mindful of how much water you use because the price will add up.

One of the worst experiences in my life all ima say is please just save your time & money! The list of why you shouldn’t  live here is so extensive.
