Bitterly disappointed that after nearly forty years with this practice I have felt the need to move on. My family and I have been with this practice since it was in Albert Road under Dr Birch, Sutherland and such excellent doctors such as Dr Bhaduri who was 'our' doctor and now we realise how privileged we were. In truth I have had very few visits to the Doctor over recent years but in the past few months have developed a need for more regular attendance. I feel more confident in the need to see the same Doctor, both for my own peace of mind and continuity of treatment and information shared. I consider the relationship between a GP and patient is special, experienced over many years and this is certainly the relationship we enjoyed with Dr Bhaduri , who - forgive the cliche - was like 'one of the family'. It is clear the practice do not recognise or acknowledge this relationship whatsoever under current Management , in fact I feel it is all about 'get them in and out as fast as possible' to increase profitability and 'process' as many patients as they are physically able to do. I have recently tried to book an appointment with the same Doctor I had seen the last time I attended the practice. It was not an emergency and I explained I was happy to wait for the next available slot. At this juncture I would like to add the receptionists are far too inquisitive as to your needs to see a Doctor at all, to the point I feel very uncomfortable having to explain myself. In this event I was told my requested Doctor was not available, to which I reiterated I was happy to take the next available appointment. I was told I would have to phone the next morning at 0800hrs, see if he was available and await a phone response from him that morning. If he wasn't available, I would have to go through the same process every morning until he was. It is long overdue that this practice need to realise that their patients lives do not revolve around them. How many people have the time to sit by their phones morning after morning waiting for a phone call from this over officious , unsympathetic practice, who are clearly out of touch with the needs of their patients. I have been with a new local practice now for around six weeks and to date I am highly delighted. I can see the Doctor of my choice up to now with a wait of no longer than two weeks. In conclusion I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to the dedication, professionalism and expertise of Doctors Birch, Sutherland, Lavin and particularly Bhaduri, you are indeed all hard acts to follow and I fear increasingly scarce in today's NHS.
