Fantastic museum, with a wonderful collection of objects, crammed into one room, described as the original museum, plus the new wing and basement which features fashion, motor racing and Eddie Izzards amazing model of Bexhill plus a model railwaynPlenty of help around to talk enthusiastically about the history and exhibits. The £3.00 admission is well worth it
Bexhill Museum is an absolute gem with an eclectic range of exhibits to fascinate any interest and every age range. There are displays about the local area and virtually everywhere else in the world. The volunteers are happy and helpful too.
Please, just go here n10 times more interesting than I expected, spent as much time here as I would at the v&a or science museum. especially good place for a local resident. Amazing volunteer staff all happy to chat and explain exhibits, felt like family, coffee good and cheap, gift shop great. Watch the 60s video, you will want to move here, Bexhill is awesome, feel better about living nearby! Who knew. Even usually boring facts were not somehow.
Dropped in because of the Eddie Izzard connection, including a wartime snow covered Bexhill model railway, his family railway that tied in with significant moments in his family history and the Nazi girls school in Bexhill in the 1930s!nnThere is plenty more to see, including historic vehicles, costumes, natural history, and more. There is even a kakapo.
Great little museum spread across two floors focusing on Bexhill and the local area. There are a couple of model railways here too which prove to be popular. I particularly liked the area which showed clothing and toys, etc going back in time.nnManaged to pop in here during the Bexhill After Dark event. Definitely worth visiting if in the area small fee to enter normally.
