My boyfriend and I have tried several gyms in the area and this one is by far the best. Friendly staff, always feel welcome on arrival. Other members seem like minded and are also friendly. Plenty of equipment - it isn’t the biggest gym in the world but there’s everything you need good selection of free weights, machines and cardio machines. It is also not too busy at peak times so although there’s only one squat rack you can usually get to it or the wait is short if it is in use, never a queue for any equipment! Also a free coffee machine which is lovely. Always play decent music too! We feel the price is worth it for a quiet gym, lovely staff and the atmosphere there.

Small gym but has everything you need. Machines and equipment could do with upgrading.
Very nice gym but it's small and cramped. The gym close to early compared to other gym in the area.
Great gym got all you need to get or stay in shape and steam and sauna to relax and refresh the mind
Generally good, but have to wait for popular items like the Smith machine or the squat rack too often
Just realised that the great review I had written for Fitness First had been hijacked by Better Gym when they took over Fitness First - cannot let that happen... So Fitness First has now changed to Better Gym for 7 months, and the downfall has been slow, but steady : Better Gym has kept similar price, but has changed every little possible detail to the cheapest version shower gel, paper towels, hygienic towels, clocks. Although the staff is virtually the same, the way they are made to work has impacted the quality of this gym: used to be always virtually spot clean because cleaners were in the gym hours a day - now it's only clean if you're lucky enough to have arrived before everybody else or just after it's been cleaned. Better Gym is also putting a lot of pressure on its members with classes, threatening of penalties if a booked class has not been attended / cancelled whilst putting pressure on the other hand to book classes - which was never the case with Fitness First. The last weight machine that broke down was "waiting repairs" for over 3 weeks - and this is a small gym so when I machine breaks down, it does affect what's available to work with. In short, paying the same premium price but with a service and quality that has drastically declined to match the one expected in a 24/7 gym i.e. none
I joined this gym in January 2018 moving from Wyndley Leisure Centre. There is ample parking at the gym 3 hours free staff are friendly and the gym is kept clean. Steam room and sauna are a nice touch, plus free coffee!
Never really liked coming here. Not at all value for money and often felt intimidated by other gym goers and some of the personal trainers. Very cramped and not a lot of equipment on offer despite the high membership cost.
Not been refurbished since fitness first, showers & toilet are old and very unhygienic. Not cleaned regularly and we as customer’s pay £35 per month. Need better facilities also steam needs a refurb etc
